"Ah, Nick is not that bad." Eugene said as they walked in the crowded halls after s chool.

"He tries to control her, and she won't stand up to him."

"That's pretty bad."

"I'm talking about the way he blows up if she goes against his wishes."

"Nick, is just a jealous type." "Oh, please Eugene. Don't defend your friend."

"They've been acting like that for years. I don't see it changing."

"But why? Lizzie is smart. Why does she let him treat her like she's stupid?"

"They love each other." Eugene said with a shrug. "Just like I love you."

"But you treat me right."

"I do, do I? Well I can change that."

A horn honked two rows over and a male voice shouted, "I said, get in the car right now!!"

Startled, Alexia and Eugene looked over to see Nick driving beside a walking Elizabeth. Who was obviously ignoring him.

Nick demanded that she do whatever he says. Then, Elizabeth stopped, and so did Nick's car.

"Hey you want a ride Lizzie?" Alexia yelled.

"Eugene and I can take you home."

"I'm going to take her home. Not you two." NIck said. "We have to talk, don't we Lizzie?"

Elizabeth turned toward them, Alexia saw the tears on her cheeks. "Don't get in the car. Don't go with him."

"Thanks, but I'll go with NIck. It's all right."

Elizabeth opened the car door. "I'll call you as soon as I get home."

Elizabeth hadn't even gotten the door shut befor Nick sped out of the parking lot.

"What a Jerk." Elizabeth said, watching him turn the corner.

Eugene slipped his arm around her.

"Come on, Lets go."

"She didn't have to go with him, you know."

"I'll talk to him, okay? Maybe he'll listen. He's not really a bad guy".
