A Proposal
"Guess what?" Elizabeth said when Alexia picked up her phone.
"Hey, your still alive."
"I'm stuck here with my parents, pressuring me to take the scholarship. While Tucker is begging me to stay around."
"But you have to go to College."
"I'll go, but maybe not so far away. I'm starting to think my parents want to get rid of me. "
"No way. They just want you to have a bright future."
"Alexia, whose side are you on anyway?!"
"Yours. When do you have to decide?"
"By the end of February."

Eugene surprised Aexia by stopping by their house. Alexia made hot chocolates for the two of them. Then she told him about the conversation with Elizabeth.
"Nick is being really selfish. Did you say anything to him?"
"A little."
"What? You're not telling me everything."
"He wants to double date next week. Thought it would be fun to go to the Football game with him and Lizzie."
"Lizzie is my bestfriend, and I love you. But do we have to take Nick with us?"
''It was his idea, remember?" "Nick will drive, they will pick us up here."
"Are you sure you're telling me eveyrthing?"
"Why wouldn't I?"
"Maybe it's because you found another girl ou want to date and you want to break up with me."
"No way! I don't want to ever break uo with you."
"Ok, but really. There is something you're not telling me."
"Do I look that guilty?" "You look like you want to tell me something but you just don't know how."
He looked sheepish. "Because, I told Nick I would't say anything. He made me promise."
"But you want to tell me? Don't you?"
"Alexia, you're not going to like it."
"It's about Lizzie, isn it?"
Eugene nodded. "I wish Nick had never told me."
"I can keep a secret. I won't say anyhting."
"You can't tell Lizzie." Eugene's expression was serious.
"Is it something bad?"
"Not really. It's supposed to be a good thing."
Alexia waited, watching his face as he struggled --- to tell her or to keep his promise to Nick.
Finally, Eugene turned and took a deep beath.
"Nick is giving Lizzie a ring for Valentine's Day. He palns to ask her to marry him --- just as soon as they graduate in June"
