The Accident

"Hey, don't move. I already called for help."

"What the heck happened?"

"The car you were in went off the road, and it flipped."

Alexia can't say anything. Her eyes started to water. She heard a sound of siren coming closer.

"You need a coat." The boy moved beside her to keep her warm.

The paramedics came. Alexia saw Nick, his shirt was ripped but he looked just fine. Like he just went off from a fight; not a wreck.

"Are you alright?" Nick asked.

"Do I look like I'm alright? This is all your fault. Nick, what did just happen to us?"

"We hit a tree. Then I blacked out."

Alexia and Nick were brought in the hospital.

\"Alexia? We're going to stitch up your cuts." The Doctor in the ER said.

Alexia wanted her mother more than anything. She saw Nick sitting in a wheelchair. Where's Eugene? Where's Elizabeth?

"Don't worry, your mother is on her way."

Alexia was alone, then she heard the noise of a stretcher arriving in the ER. A body was covered in the stretcher. A hand hung downward in the edge of the sheet. The fingers didn't even moved. Clearly, the person on the stretcher was dead.

"Alexia! Look at me, talk to me please, it's your mom."

"Mom." Alexia broke into sobs.

"Evrything is going to be fine."

"Where are the others? They should be here too. No one tells me what happened to them."

"Calm down honey. The police said you weren't wearing your seatbelt. Alexia, you know better. "

"Please, mom. Please don't be mad."

"I'm not mad, just scared. All of you weren't wearing your seatbelts. Only Nick."

"Tell me about Eugene. Where is he?!"

"He's been transferred to the State Medical Center."

"What? Why?"

"He had a head injury."

"How bad is he hurt? Please tell me."

"Broken ribs. His face needed stitches."

"What else mom? Tell me everything."

Her mother paused. Can't find the right words to tell her daughter.

"Eugene's in a coma honey."

"And, Elizabeth's dead"
