"Homesick"
Chapter 25
Subject: ch 25 - homesick
There was only so much a man could do in an empty house. Carson missed his girls much more than he had anticipated. He probably missed them even more since they hadn't given him much notice before packing and flying across the Atlantic Ocean.
He had used the time to catch up with work and small projects around the house, but he was now officially running out of excuses to not think about Angeline.
She had entered his life with a perfect timing, almost making him forget that his wife of so many years had suddenly decided to leave him. Most men would have crumbled under the pressure of finding themselves alone at the dawn of their lives, but Angeline bursting into his world had taken him by surprise and he was suddenly missing her youth, the fire she ignited in him.
More than once he had grabbed his phone and called her, but he always stopped short, instead finally deciding to send an email telling her he missed them both. Knowing she was so far away with all her friends, and that Derek guy, was a good reminder that he still experienced the type of feelings only a person in love can have; jealousy.
At his age, Carson was a very secure and confident man, but the past few days started to make him feel old and lonely. What if the spark they both had felt was just that? A spark with no tomorrow.
With the phone still in hand, he finally dialed a number and waited as the phone rang on the other side of the world.
"Hello?" A barely awake voice answered.
"Sabrina? It's the man of your life." Carson said. The line went silent for longer than the joke had called for.
"Who is this?" Sabrina asked.
"Way to bruise my ego baby girl! It's your Dad!" Carson said, feigning to be hurt.
Sabrina was still wrapped up in Madelyn's arms, comfortably spooned against her underneath a thick blanket. The room was still a little dark, but mostly because of the gray skies outside since it was already past 7am. Hearing her Dad's voice was making her happy, but being in another woman's arms while talking to him felt a little odd.
"How are you, Daddy?"
Sabrina smiled as she imagined him pacing the house for days while adjusting to the life of a single man.
"Doing great! I've started painting classes and I just finished remodeling the kitchen. Next I will turn your room into an indoor basketball court." He said, forcing himself to sound excited.
Again, Sabrina smiled. She knew her dad so well that she didn't need to ask another question. He was bored to death. She couldn't remember when was the last time the two of them had ever spent more than a few days away from each other, and if it wasn't for the incredibly warm welcome she had received in the US, she probably would have returned home long ago.
"Where will I sleep?" She asked, whispering to not wake up Madelyn.
"What do you mean?" He asked. "I thought you moved out."
Sabrina felt her lover pull closer against her, the shape of her generous breasts pressed against her bare back. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the moment. She had found herself unable to resist testing the waters of passion with another girl, and the night had been everything she had ever imagined.
"You know you won't get rid of me so easily." She responded.
She could feel Madelyn was awake but in that rare state of nirvana when nothing matters but the moment at hand, as if time was suspended and no wrong could ever happen; almost a state of living a dream while awake.
