*Kagome's POV*
"Who is this?" I growled heavily into the phone as I paced back and forth in the very dark living room, wringing and unwringing my hands in my shirt. My eyes darted back and forth rapidly, trying to make out any dark blobs.
"You'll find out soon enough." There was brief chuckling before the phone line went dead. I griped my phone tightly, listening to the deadline. I sighed quietly after slipping my phone in my pocket.
A spike of uncertainty shot up my spine, causing me to leap upstairs and bolt towards my bedroom. I threw the door open to peek outside my bedroom window. I spotted a black van in my driveway. I cursed under my breath as I heard pounding at the door. I quickly slid open my glass doors, locking it quietly behind me and quietly walked onto the balcony. While peering over the edge, I sucked in a gasp of air. There were two men that had wired headphones getting ready to tear the front door down.
I closed my eyes, listening to my heart hammering against my chest. My right hand was subconsciously drawing circles on my left palm, trying to calm myself down. There was a loud bang down below, sending my eyes wide open in surprise. I shakily dangled my legs over my balcony, staring into InuYasha's bedroom. I spotted a lump under the dark, silky covers in his bed.
I mulled the possibilities inside my head. I couldn't start screaming his name, that would draw the attention of the men below. I couldn't call his phone; I didn't have his number. But, I did have Sango's number.
Me: Unknown men inside house. Contact InuYasha ASAP!!!
I quickly slid my phone back into my pocket as I heard footsteps pounding throughout the house with some yelling. I chewed on my bottom lip as the sounds got closer. I realized I only had one choice.
I started to back up, looking behind me to not walk into my glass doors. I took a deep breath before sprinting across my balcony and leaping across the space between my balcony and InuYasha's balcony. I landed clumsily and not so graceful, earning myself a body slide across the cold wood of his balcony.
Ignoring the aching pain throughout my scraped and bruised body, I pushed myself up. It was actually a huge surprise that I made it. But then again, I did take track back in Middle School.
I thankfully slid open InuYasha's unlocked glass door and slipped in. I fidgeted with the lock with shaky hands, but I couldn't seem to lock it.
"Kagome?" InuYasha questioned groggily behind me, sitting up and uncovering on his bed.
"I-InuYasha," I spoke in a heavily pleading tone as I tore my hands away from his door. "Please lock the door."
He rose out of his bed and crossed the room in seconds. He cupped my face with a single calloused hand, concern flowing through them as he griped one of my hands to stop the shaking.
"Kagome, what's wrong?" He swiped a single tear that had leaked out of my fearful eyes.
"Lock the door. Lock the door. Please, InuYasha, lock the door." I begged him, starting to shake uncontrollably. My knees started to give out as I slowly started sliding down InuYasha, but he managed to grab a hold of my arms to heft me up. He rose a hand and locked the door in one swift movement. His attention promptly returned to my still shaking form.
"Kagome, what's wrong?" He demanded firmly as he guided me over to his bed.
"T-There's-"
A phone went off somewhere in his room, shoving my surprised body into even more shock as I jumped. InuYasha frowned at me, not moving from his spot to answer his phone. The phone eventually stopped ringing after a few moments that seemed to linger on. But, right after it had paused, it started back up again. InuYasha growled heatedly before reaching over me and angrily clicking the answer key.
