Remember, Percy is still technically in a wolf pup body. Well more teenager body but he's not full grown. Also, thanks for 2000 followers!
We met up with the group and I could barely contain my excitement and it was a bit annoying because I was in a tiny pup body so pretty much my whole body was shaking.
Everyone else seemed to find it funny and I guess that was okay because they were held prisoners and they needed something to lift their spirits.
"How long till we reach camp?" Bucky asked Steve as we continued to walk with the weapons we stole from Hydra.
"Percy stop chewing my hand." Steve said amused at one of the stops for the night. I was bored and really wanted to chew something as my energy was just blasting.
So of course I didn't listen to Steve and tried to grab the hand once again when he moved away, "I still don't get why you even brought this little guy home." Bucky said shaking his head, the stars were shining above as the other men slept except for a select few who were keeping watch.
My tongue just decided to flop out as I tried to cool my body from overheating causing my whole body to once again start to shake a bit as my chest heaved. To other it was adorable and I didn't do adorable.
"That's why." Steve said softly as he rubbed between my ears, okay so I might do adorable but it's because he's Steve and Steve is allowed to see me adorable.
Bucky snorted atht thought but also started to pet me, "He's really tame for such a wild, ferocious beast."
"That is a bit weird, I'm just assuming it's because he's young." Steve responded as I curled in his lap but was way to awake as the moon was calling for a howl.
"I doubt that's it, I heard stories that they are still wild as ever even when they are newborn, it might be dialed down a bit but there is a reason why people say they can't be tamed." Bucky said
"We might never know then." Steve said and stopped petting me even when I pushed my head under his hand.
"Goodnight Percy." Steve teased as he leaned back against the log and closed his eye. I huffed and wandered over to Bucky who also leaned back but was staring at the stars.
"I didn't think I would see them again." Bucky told me quietly as I nuzzled his chest when he once again pet me.
I extended my paw and just placed it over his as I sat on his chest, the action caused him to pause his petting and look over at me. I was staring at him and once again lifted my paw only to put it back on his hand.
"Thanks." he said giving me a tired smile and rested the said hand on his chest where I gave it a lick and then a careful gnaw before jumping off his chest.
I walked toward a clearing that wasn't too far away from the make-shift camp but enough that I could bark at the moon, or more specifically my mother who was still searching for me.
Sitting down I stared at the moon and closed my eyes feeling the waves coming off of it intensely as I tilted my head and opened my lungs.
Blowing the air from my lungs I let out a loud howl, it wasn't like the ones from large wolves but it still got the point across, I just hoped I didn't disturb the men sleeping.
Almost instantly I felt the moon focus on me and the air shift. I opened my eyes and watched the sky, waiting. Almost a few seconds later silver deer were crossing the sky before disappearing over the horizon, but I knew mom would be here soon she just had to hand off her carriage to one of the hunters.
I felt intense heat behind me and kept looking ahead of me before the heat died down and I turned just in time to be scooped up.
Use to this I didn't yelp and instead bumped my head into my mom's shoulder in a greeting and a silent, 'missed you'.
"I was worried so much. Where have you been young man and why are you just outside a small camp with men. Have they hurt you? I swear to Hades if they hurt or kidnapped, dognapped, whatever I will personally turn them into jackalopes and hunt them down myself." Mom ranted as she pat the fur on top of my head.
I squirmed and mom got the message to carefully put me down. Once I was set down I carefully changed into my young, human self.
"I'm okay mom, they didn't hurt me. In fact, one of them saved me." I said giving her a hug which she returned quickly.
"Do they know about..." Mom gestured toward me putting two and two together after I called to her in wolf form.
"No, I don't know how to say that. I like him mom, he's been kind and...it's nice because he acts like family and the relationship I once had with mom, he's not like Gabe mom. Far from Gabe." I said looking back at the camp conflicted over going home with mom or staying with Steve.
Mom carefully sat next to me as I leaned into her side, "What do you want Percy?" she asked not mad but not overly excited.
I licked my lips and after a few deciding seconds, "I think I'll stay with Steve, he's family mom. I can't abandon me especially when I feel like he'll need me more than ever." I said carefully and felt her wrap her arms around me.
"Okay. Okay, then I guess I'll tell the girls what you have told me. Just know that we will watch over you and that your, uh, nametag will act as a beacon. If you're in trouble and need our help just pray and we'll be there soon." She said kissing the top of my head.
"I love you mom." I said giving her a goodbye hug as I could hear the shift of leaves behind us, the watchmen coming over here to check out the area.
"Be safe my son." She said and disappeared in a moonlight glow. Instantly I focused on changing and just in time too because as soon as I had, the bushed were pushed aside and two men with Hydra guns came in, thankfully they were from the group.
"Isn't that Steve's dog?" One of them asked as he knelt beside me and pat me once.
"I think it is, why don't we take him back and change shift." The other man said and carefully picked me up.
I don't know why, but I felt like this was just the beginning.
