"Get off me!" Iona cried in terror as she tried to pull away from her mother, silently cursing herself for getting into this mess. Her right arm was strapped and her left was tightly being squashed beneath her mothers hand. She was helpless as her mum dragged her from the room and into the quiet corridor, covering Iona's mouth.
Iona looked around desperately for help but it was the middle of the night and the waiting room was else where and away from her ward.
Her mum dragged her down the hall as Iona struggled, Iona bit her mother's hand hard enough so she let go. Iona was ready to scream when her mum pulled her into a cupboard, slamming her into some shelves and covering her mouth so Iona couldnt even react to the pain now stinging her back.
"Look...i know i may be coming off as a bit foward" Iona resisted the temptation to scoff at her mothers use of words, 'foward' was the understatement of the century. "I just dont trust that man to look after you, you have grown up so much, i can hardly recognise you" she said softly, slipping into a motherly tone of voice that Iona wasn't buying.
"Well then you shouldnt have left" Iona hissed, wriggling free of her hand. Most of her anger had fizzled out of her system and she just felt hurt and afraid as she stared into the eyes she once loved and dreamt about every night. "I, hate you! And that man raised me while you were galavanting off doing who knows what, with his money! I will never go with you! I have a life here now, better than the one i had home with you!" Iona snapped, some of her courage and anger resurfacing.
Her mum reached to pull her again but Iona managed to grab her mothers other arm with her aching and strapped arm, she was still under enough painkillers to just about manage it, catching her mum by surprise.
"If you so much as move i will scream!" Iona hissed, gathering up all the confidence she had left, although deep down she knew that if her mum tried hard enough, she could easily pull away and cover Iona's mouth again.
"Iona why are you fighting me? I'm your mother!" The blonde woman cried pleadingly and Iona had to screw up her eyes and shake her head.
"NO!" Iona screamed, making her mum jump. "No, leave me alone. Go away, i have spent almost two years trying to forget you, trying to think of any reason you could have possibly wanted to leave! I spent all that time...missing you and when my life finally takes a turn for the better...you turn up..." Iona's voice weakened as she spoke and she suddenly wanted to collapse into a ball and cry. Her grip lessened slightly on her mothers arm and her mum ripped it free.
She gave Iona a sickening look of pity "you dont have to worry about that anymore" she insisted, stepping closer, making Iona uncomfortable. "Come with me" she moaned childishly. "Away from that man and this small town" she continued, her confidence growing and her sense of victory radiating from her expression and body language.
"I would rather die!" Iona snapped, clenching her fist. She tried to shove her way past but her mum grabbed her bad shoulder. Iona cried out, it wasn't long before the door swang open and Iona was able to make a run for it, ignoring whoever had come in.
She ran down the ward corridor, past patient's rooms and she swung the door open at the end, turned the corner and saw the waiting room up ahead. it was quiet now but she could see Parker. He was ignorantly leaning back against the wall as she ran straight for him and right into his arms.
He noticed her just in time to bundle her up in his arms and Iona ignored the seering pain in her shoulder as she crashed into him, just wanting someone to take her away from here.
She gripped him tightly with her left hand and buried her head into his chest.
"Take me home" she whimpered, her voice cracking and breaking as she began to tremble. She then heared her dad speak and Parker began to move her, walking her away and out of the hospital.
......
"How's your shoulder?" Parker asked as he sat down beside Iona on the sofa and crossed his legs.
She was curled up in a blanket and because it was annoying her, she had discarded her arm strap. "Okay i guess" Iona replied glumly and Parker shuffled closer, slipping under her blanket and wrapping an arm around her.
"I wont ever leave you" he said quietly into her ear and she smiled softly at his words as she rested against his chest. "Hey, you're safe now, i would have never let her take you! You know as a Phoenix i have the powers to-" Iona cut off his obnoxious bragging by pushing her lips onto his.
"You know i dont think you realise just how great i am" Parker smirked quietly as he pulled away from the kiss slightly and Iona welcomed the smile fighting its way onto her lips and leaned further foward, now practically sat on Parker, she kissed him again but harder, holding his neck in her hands.
Parker didn't interrupt this time but responded by gripping her waist tightly and pushing his lips against hers, with more and more force until they were pushing back and forth against one another.
Iona tugged at his shirt and Parker raised his arms so she could pull it off him. She sat up and looked down at Parker, his eyes shining intensely in the dim lighting. Iona was breathing heavily, as was Parker and with shaking hands she gripped the hem of her own shirt.
Before she could pull it up, Parker placed his hands over hers, "let me" he said softly, with a smile as he gently moved her hands aside and took her top off for her, saving her some pain from her shoulder. His fingertips sent sparks through her as they brushed against her bare skin.
Iona pushed Parker down onto the sofa and she ran her hand down his chest, tracing the large white scar on his right shoulder affectionately. She was consumed, nothing mattered but him and it was in that moment she suddenly noticed how frail Parker appeared.
His ribs were visible beneath his skin and his hip bones were highly visible and sharp. Iona ran her hands accross his rigid shoulders and she planted small kisses down his neck. She wanted to memorise every inch of his body, and she admired him like a masterpiece in a room full of paintings.
Parker watched her intently, his arms placed firmly around her protectively and he too seemed entranced. He couldnt take his eyes off her.
