Iona awoke the next morning, her body wrapped up in Parker's arms, their bare skin pressed against one another. That was her first time!

She didn't want to move from the sofa, away from Parker, but she knew she had to. Parker had work at the motorcycle shop in less than 10 minutes, and his step dad would kill him if he were late.

"Parker, parker you have to wake up!" Iona said as forcefully as she could, fighting the urge just to cuddle him for a little longer...

When Iona moved, she winced at the stiffness of her bruised shoulder and ended up falling back onto Parker, in a manner far from graceful. With a grunt Parker opened his eyes and Iona smiled guilty at him.

"Well that's not exactly the way i expected to be awoken, it's certainly not how its done in the movies!" Parker said with a gruff morning voice, his eyes still alight with mischief. He slid his hands up Iona's sides and she had to fight against every impulse in her body, and pushed his hands down.

"You have to go" Iona pouted, looking at the clock and Parker followed her gaze, his eyes widening at the sight of the time.

"Crap." He groaned, falling back into the sofa, as if to melt into it somehow.

Iona rolled her eyes and flipped the blanket aside, and stood up. She smiled contentedly as she could feel Parker watching her. She gently (and slowly) put on her clothes and pulled her long tangled hair up into an even more tangled bun.

She turned and Parker smirked "you're such a tease!" He accused, his arms now folded behind his head.

With an exasperated, sideways look Iona pulled him to his feet. "Now stop looking so damn gorgeous so I can get dressed properly!" Iona huffed, still smiling but wanting to get out of her pyjamas.

Parker grinned, stepped closer and whispered "I could say the same to you..."

........

It was two days later when Iona's dad informed her that her mother had finally left.

Iona hadn't known what to expect from such news but she'd just felt empty. It was all so bizzar, she couldn't believe what had happened to her mother...or perhaps she was always that way and Iona just never noticed.

All in all Iona just felt overwhelmed. She was frustrated, at herself and her mum. She was shaken by the way her mum behaved, and angry at her for the way she had spoken about her dad...and angry at herself for still missing her slightly, now she was gone again.

For the rest of the holiday, Iona tried to surround herself with friends and tried to go back to normal before the inevitable start of College again, which she feared would be an even harder year, than the last.

"Parker really!" Iona cried, trying to wipe his clothes down, they were covered in dirt. First day back at college and he had been messing around on his bike at that new dirt track, just outside the town! Iona gave him an angry look.

"I wouldn't bother little red! I tried to stop him going but, i dont know if you have met Phoenix, he's very stubborn!" Razor chipped in, also flashing Parker a look of irritation and Parker simply stood, looking nonplused.

Parker then crinkled his nose at Iona's hands which were still fiddling with the sleeves of his jaket, trying to remove dust and dirt. "You look and sound like my mother!" He said, shaking her off before walking towards the college down the road.

But Iona was now glaring at Razor, who was smiling knowingly, "do not, call me that!" She snapped, cursing the name little red under her breath as she walked off, following in suit of Parker.

"Dont let them get to you, boys will be boys!" Cried Tatty, Iona's crazy haired friend who was even shorter than herself, even if just by a bit.

Iona laughed and shook off the tension in her shoulders, she pushed away her nerves and put a friendly arm around Tatty's shoulders and said lightly, "you can say that again!"

As expected Iona's first day back was jam packed full of work and lectures from every single one of her teachers about their exams at the end of the year. She wished, each time that she stepped into a new room, that they would stop reminding her of what she was dreading most, but to no avail.

"Is it just me or have all the teachers suddenly gone phycho?!" Parker raged at the end of the day! Iona couldnt get a word in before he continued, "I mean, my biology teacher who never gives our class homework has set about a bloody weeks worth! And dont get me started on chemistry! I can hardly hold my bag on my shoulder-"

"But surely that shouldn't be a problem, you know, with all your brutish man strength!" Iona interrupted in a voice of pretend ignorance. Parker flashed her a snarky smile before opening his mouth again.

"I mean, i swear they are all on 20 cups of coffee, the way they storm around the class as if our exams are tomorrow!" Parker huffed, readjusting the pile of folders in his hands and Iona did see his point, glaring down at her heavy weight art folder, currently digging into her fingers.

Rant over, Parker fell into silence and they walked back to his house where Iona gladly chucked all her things on the floor. Iona hadn't been to Parker's house much, really when they spent time together they mostly went out and about, she found it surprising they werent already sick of the small town by now.

"When are they getting here?" Iona groaned, meaning Tatty and Razor who were meeting them so they could go out togther, and she flopped onto Parker's bed, stretching out her stiff fingers.

"Well Razor had a detention"

"But his last class was an hour before ours, so shouldnt he be out by now?"

"Yeah but his detention meant missing football practice so i assume, that right about now he is being yelled at by his coach and Tatty is waiting nervously outside the boys locker room..." Parker stated, almost throwing all his school work on his desk, which was already cluttered enough.

"Why are you smiling?" Iona asked suspisiously, now smiling herself.

"Because it means i have time to do this..." he said, leaning in and kissing her.

Iona couldn't help smiling, no one had ever made her feel like this and when the door bell rang, some fifteen minutes later they both sighed.

"It's your own fault for doing two sciences!" Iona said on their way out as she saw Parker throw a look of hatred at his pile of work. He responded by showing his middle finger at her over his shoulder and Iona shook her head, laughing lightly.

She couldnt explain how she felt at that exact moment, even  if her life had depended on it, she found herself feeling giddy just watching him greet their friends, his jokey and naturally confident voice almost running right through her, twisting her stomach in knots. What ever that feeling was...it scared her.

AN: hmmm what could she be feeling?

Something beginning with 'L' perhaps....??
