Chapter 6/ Escape

Back on the docks Trixie's mother came down to the pier, she was wild over the loss of her daughter. When the last Kingdom plane took off that Nathan the Ram emerged from the shadows.

'They took my daughter. She sneaked on to the ship' Trixie's mother shouted to everyone.

'I only said I thought I saw her go on the ship. I'm sure she's around here some were', said the mayor reassuringly.

On the horizon the airships from the Anendale navy appeared. Soon the island would be crawling with more military. Quietly Nathan went down his sea plane he started the motor. While the motor splutter into life he became irritated. Someone had taken his gun but left the magazine of bullets behind. His goal had left east wards and that is just the direction he took off in.

Back in the brig of the Kingdom ship Kitty, and Trixie weighed their options.

'How to escape from an Kingdom ship with only one bullet. Well I know they tell stories about me but if I get out f this then I'm going to be very good indeed.' said Kitty. She spun around and using both her hands pointed the gun at Trixie.

'Wait I saved you' said Trixie.

'They don't call me a dangerous pirate for nothing. Get down, hide behinds the sacks' said Kitty.

Trixie got back into the sack while Kitty continued to point into the air where Trixie had been. When Trixie pulled the bag over her head she heard a single shot being fired.

There was a loud knocking on the door.

'What are you doing in there' a rough voice shouted.

'Nothing, the port hole came lose. When are you going to come and fix it' Kitty shouted.

'Fix it your self, or freeze.' said the voice from the outside.

They waited a while then Trixie got out of her bag again.

'Why did you do that?' said Trixie.

'Look' said Kitty pointing at the wing.

Trixie looked out of the small porthole at the wing and noticed a small hole with fuel leaking from it.

'They are going to loose fuel and by morning they are going to be so short they will have to land. They will have to refuel and fix the leak. If they stay on this course there is only one place. the best place they could land is Mountsorrel. It's independent of the Kingdom so we should be able to get off the ship and find a plane back to your home.'

They closed the porthole but with the seaplane at this height it was cold. Trixie snuggled up to Kitty's who wrapped her flying jacket around her.

'Why did he call you Kitty?' Trixie asked.

'That's my name. Captain Kitty Firehawk' .

'Why did the bull man want to marry you' asked Trixie.

'We knew each other once' admitted Kitty.

'Does he love you?' asked Trixie.

'He think he does, Kitten'

Trixie could hear the crew singing marching songs.

'And why are they singing?' Trixie added.

'Your full of questions aren't you little one. Their signing because they are happy. They've been hunting me for more than two years and now they get to go back to home. Now you get your rest, we need to escape early tomorrow' Trixie had a few hundred more questions but struggled to stay awake.

Trixie woke the next morning with Kitty shaking her gently. for a moment while she woke up Trixie believed she was still in her bed. Kitty put her finger up to her cat face and then pointed to the door. She marched like a soldier but silently then titled her face like she was asleep. Trixie nodded and Kitty pointed to the tiny porthole. Trixie looked out and saw the sea plane had landed. It was next to to a dock with a big city beyond. A pipe which had refuelled the sea plane was being pulled out. While a cloth had been stuffed in the bullet hole.

Without much warning Kitty lifted Trixie up and got Trixie to crawl out through the porthole. Kitty just pointed at the hatch that Trixie had crept through the night before.

Trixie nodded turned the handle which opened the hatch. She looked carefully in as promised the guard was sleeping sitting cross-legged, rifle in his lap. He was a dog head one of the Kingdom's elite troops. Trixie heard orders being shouted down the corridor.

Trixie moved as quietly as she could. She thought of her self as a cat quietly pulling the peg which kept the door latch shut. Carefully she opened the door and watched as Kitty crept the out of the gap. Quietly they both moved to the open hatch. The soldier stirred and sat up. Kitty punched him in the face to the floor.

As they both got out Trixie could hear orderes about the sea plane taking off for Elan. From the pier they saw the engines starting and the plane moving away.

Trixed couldn't stop Kitty running forward and standing next to a pillar at the end of the doc. She stood there as the sea plane passed. The pilot occupied a large glass cockpit at the front and as it passed Kitty stood there and waved at them. As she did the Tomas's horns lent forwards and he looked at her. Kitty waved at Tomas like she was waving at friend going by in a bus. She then ran way with Trixie in her holding her hand. Trixie heard the seaplane go into full reverse. She and Kitty ran into the city beyond the port. They turned one corner then again and again then slowed down. The streets here were tiny twist little mazes full of tiny shops.

'Welcome to Mountsorrel' said Kitty.

'Are we safe here?' asked Trixie.

'Well yes and no. Yes we are not in the hands of the Thomas and thank you again for helping me escape Trixie. And no, if your mother ever gave had a list of places you shouldn't go then this would be number six near the top.'

'Where should we go?'

'Well there is only one place to go Fox Oswald's'

'Is that safe'

'Well if you looked closely on the list of places you shouldn't go then Fox Oswald's would be one place higher than all of Mountsorrel'

'huh well that's kind of reassuring in a not at all kind of way' said Trixie.
