'Good to know you will sign' said Harold as a pen was handed to Kitty.
In a single motion Kitty squirted pen ink into Harold's face and tore up her letter of retirement. She rushed to the walls and jumped up and grabbed on to one of the balconies pulling her up. Trixie was glad Kitty was getting away, but then swallowed when the door Kitty was aiming for was filled with more guards. Soon Kitty was overpowered again and brought back down struggling.
'I'll never sign it. Here I am here I remain' said Kitty loudly.
'You should have stuck to piracy dear. Kill her' shouted Harold angrily wiping ink from his face 'throw her and her furry friends off the palace'
'Highness there's a better way. Alive she's a threat but dead she's unstoppable, Lord Beardsmore could use her memory as a way to gain public sympathy. ' said uncle Richard 'If she married a commoner, she will lose her all her rights to be Queen. If she was given to a commoner who could control her the problem would vanish'
'Right then. You. Captain Thomas take my cousin to the cathedral and marry her' ordered Harold.
'My pleasure' said Thomas bowing his horns to Harold.
'When animals start marrying each other you know the world has gone mad' whispered Richard to Harold loudly enough for Kitty to hear. 'Go with them Father, I don't trust these animals alone'
Thomas and the guards took Kitty ,Trixie and Fox Oswald out of the throne room along many twisting passages.
'I thought you would be happier, seeing that someone's got his life's ambition for filled today' said Fox Oswald loudly to Kitty while looking at Captain Thomas.
'Trixie will you tell Fox Oswald I'm not listening to him'.
'You're still not talking to me? what does a guy have to do to cure you of that?'
'The palace feels very quiet' said Thomas looking at the empty guard places as they past.
'The Emperor sent every available soldier to attack the pirate fleet' explained Marcus, the Labrador headed dog guard.
Soon the decoration changed again, it be came more swirly and this time they entered into a another huge space.
Kitty looked at the Labrador headed dog guard.
'Thomas - you served my father.' Kitty began.
'and I serve the King now' said Thomas.
'You know Harold hates animal heads. People like you, like me, we are just meat to him.'
'I serve the rightful ruler of these lands' said Thomas.
'You can fight his wars for him, but you know you're the first into battle, the last out. You can die for him but you can never be good enough to live for him'.
'That's the way things are and you can't change that' said Thomas.
'Yesterday, I would have agreed with you, but a little girl changed my mind. She taught me it's never to late to change your mind for the right reason. Once you've changed your mind everything thing else is easy' said Kitty.
'I can't help but notice you're the one going to the cathedral to be married and Harold's the one with the crown.' said Thomas.
They carried on in silence.
'Do you have a plan?' whispered Trixie to Kitty as they approached the temple.
'Not so much as plan' said Kitty 'more of a ploy, possibly a tacit sort of a cunning plot'
'well plot faster times running out. Look more Sheep people' said Trixie suddenly looking at the priests of the cathedral. She was right, it seemed that all the priests in the cathedral were sheep heads. They wore simple brown robes with large hoods.
'You know the temple of Niyark is quickly running up to number two on my list of places you should never go to' said Kitty.
'Sun pet heard' read Trixie written on the floor as they entered. She asked Fox Oswald what it meant but he just said it was probably something written in Latin.
'Where is the archbishop?' said Uncle Richard to a sheep head in heavily embroidered white robes, curled horns with a mark above his right eye.
'I am' said the Sheep head priest.
'Sorry all you people look alike to me' said Uncle Richard.
'That's quite alright' said the Archbishop 'I get it all the time'
'You're here for the wedding?' said the Archbishop . Thomas nodded.
'Father, I am here against my will' said Kitty.
'If you like I can give your friends a free sky diving lesson' promised Uncle Richard.
'That won't be necessary' said the priest, 'The King appointed him self as head of the church. So if the King has ordered the wedding, then no other permission is needed. The guns however, we don't appreciate here' he looked firmly at the weapons all the dog heads soldiers carried.
Thomas nodded, 'take the weapons outside leave two men on guard with them' he ordered. The senior guard collected up all the guns and took them outside. The priest started the ceremony and asked Kitty if she would marry Thomas.
'In no way. I can categorically confirm I don't' said Kitty.
The priest ignored her then asked Thomas if he wanted to marry Kitty. Before Thomas could reply the priest pulled a gun from under his robes.
'In case you have the wrong answer' he said.
