Ana POV:

"Up!" My mother commanded, opening the shades. Light erupted through the room and I hissed in pain, blurring into the shadows. "Oh yeah, you refuse to sleep with a daylight ring. Oops." She smirked, walking out of the room. My eyes fell on my daylight ring, well where I had left my daylight ring. It was gone. "Where the hell is my ring?" I shrieked, trying to remain in the shadows. Klaus poked his head in, holding out his hand to reveal the Lapis Lazuli ring that prevented my burning in the sun. "Looking for this?" He teased, placing it on my bed, across the room. "It's all yours." And with that he left the room. I screamed in frustration weighing out my options. I could just get it. No way! I could wait for Kol to get back. No that will take too long. That leaves one option. "Elijah!" I yelled, squirming back as the light shifted. "Yes Ana?" He asked, poking his head into the room. "Can you get my daylight ring? Klaus put it on the bed." I pointed, keeping my hand in the dark. He nodded, walking over to my bed and picking up the metal band. Then instead of handing it over he walked right out of the room, smile on his face. "Traitor!" My eyes narrowed at the door and I took a deep breath, running into the hallway. Sighing in relief I began searching for the ring thieves.

The front door slammed open and I ran into the foyer, avoiding the light coming from the windows. "Kol! Finally!" I exclaimed, approaching him. "Anastasia, come outside. There's someone I want you to meet." He gestured. I shook my head frantically. "No way!! Elijah has my daylight ring!" I protested, flashing my hand in his face. He tried to contain his laughter, failing miserably. I smacked him arm, glaring at him. "Fine. Fine. I'll bring her inside." He surrendered, disappearing out the door. "I see you still have not located your ring." Klaus speaks up from the corner of the room. I looked in his direction, mentally killing him over and over. Small footsteps echoed through the room and my eyes trailed away from Klaus to where a small girl stood, I raised an eyebrow. "Who's this Kol?" I asked, turning to my youngest uncle. "Just go inside her head." He coaxed. I did just that, focusing my mind and slipping into her head.

Kol POV:

I watched Ana cautiously as she opened her eyes, her jaw practically on the floor. She didn't say anything, just ran right up to Cecilia pulling her into a hug. Klaus shot me a questioning look, I replied by smiling smugly and looking back at my niece who was, by the look on Cecilia's face, squeezing the life out of the young girl. "Um Ana, she's not a vampire. Tone down the strength." I smirked, walking out of the room past Niklaus. "I'd like to see you try to get that little girl to forgive you." I whispered, patting him on the back.

Ana POV:

"Which room is mine?" Cecilia asked, jumping up and down on my bed. "Right across the hall." I replied, smiling. She nodded hopping off my bed, running across the hall way to her room. I laughed, walking over to my balcony before stepping outside. Looking down at my hand I inspected my daylight ring, which I had stolen back from Elijah while he was sleeping on the couch. Then I remembered something. "Cecilia, honey come here!" I called walking back into my bedroom, collecting a purse from my closet. "Yes Aunt Ana?" She questioned, sticking her small head into my room. "You need more clothes, we are going shopping." I announced, taking her small hand in mine. "Elijah!" I yelled, tapping my foot impatiently. My eldest uncle appeared in the room, eyebrows raised. "You're coming shopping with us." I stated, collecting my keys from the side table.

"Tell me again why your mother would not be a better shopping partner." Elijah requested as we approached the mall. "Because, Elijah, she would buy the whole mall. That and she hates long car rides." I smiled, taking Cecilia's hand as we walked into the busy building. "Yes and why not Kol?" He continued, obviously he doesn't like shopping. "We are shopping for a young girl not a hooker." I snorted, leading them into one of the shops titled 'Hollister'. "Alright, why didn't you bring Niklaus?" He raised an eyebrow as he stared at a pair of shorts on display, cringing. "Have you seen his fashion sense?" I shrieked, shivering. I did not want Cecilia strutting around in a leather jacket and combat boots. "I see, are you sure we aren't shopping inappropriately for a twelve year old girl?" He inquired holding up a shirt that was literally a scrap of fabric. I snatched it from him, putting it back. "Nobody said we would buy that." I stated, watching as Cecilia sifted through a collection of sweaters.

"Hold on just a moment." Elijah excused, pulling out his cell phone which was ringing furiously. I nodded, taking Cecilia towards the food court. "What would you like to eat?" I asked, my eyes studying each of the small restaurants carefully. "Chinese food." She squealed pointing at the restaurant. "Alright, let's go." I smiled. We began walking over when someone tapped my shoulder. I spun around prepared to murder whoever it was, it was Stefan. "Why are you here?" I raised an eyebrow, studying him. "Damon did something." He explained vaguely. "What?" I questioned. "I can't tell you. Not here." He announced. "So you came to tell me he did something and you can't tell me what?" I put a hand on my hip, my other hand tightly gripping Cecilia's small one. Stefan nodded in confirmation.

"Why did we have to leave the mall so abruptly?" I inquired, turning in my seat to look at Elijah. He didn't answer, tightening his hold on the steering wheel his eyes never leaving the road. I sighed relaxing into my seat as we drove over the bridge leading into Mystic Falls. Not long after the Mikaelson Manor came into view and Elijah stopped the car, disappearing into the house. I looked to the backseat and saw that Cecilia had in fact fallen asleep. Deciding to let her rest I walked inside, following the sound of voices to the living room. "Someone tell me what's going on!" I demanded making all three of my uncles' heads snap in my direction. Kol was the first to stand, pulling me into a tight hug. "I'm so sorry." He whispered, his voice a bit scratchy. I wrapped my arms around him and sighed. "What are you sorry for?" I interrogated, frustrated with my lack of knowledge. "Your mother... She's uh..." Kol trailed off and I could tell he was debating on whether or not to tell me. "She's what Kol? Tell me!" I whispered. Kol took a deep breath before replying. "She's dead."
