Ana POV:

I quickly hung up the phone throwing it across the room before leaving without another word. When I hit the edge of a small forest I began running, gaining speed before halting in front of Kol's home. I burst through the door and Kol jumped from his seat. "What's the matter?" He question when I began pacing. "I got a call." I replied vaguely. "Yeah. Your point?" Kol asked obviously not catching on. "It was from Elijah, he knows I'm alive Kol!" I yelled, still pacing. "You answered a call from Elijah?" Kol questioned, stepping in front of me to stop the pacing. "I didn't look at the phone before I answered, I thought it was you on the phone." I explained side stepping him and continuing on with my pacing. "Well now what? He can probably figure out there's only one place you could have gone and now he will come looking." Kol pointed out. I stopped in my tracks and looked over at him. "Remember our home in France?" I inquired, stepping closer to him. "Of coarse I do, we only lived there for 60 years." Kol replied, still utterly clueless. "We go there. It was rebuilt and modified in the 1950s, we still own it and everything. Klaus never found us in France so that's where we go." I clarified, watching as Kol's eyes lit up. "Pack your bags, I think it's time we take a trip down Memory Lane." Kol agreed, disappearing up the steps.

We pulled up outside the fair sized white home, stopping the car. I stepped out observing how the area had changed; there was much less land than when we had last been here, only about 10 acres compared to the 70 we once owned. The home was fairly modern and had been painted recently. The gardens no longer flourished with the blossoms as it normally did, and the walkway was infested by weeds. Kol walked to stand beside me, also inspecting the changes a look of utter distaste painted to his face. "Well this certainly isn't the lavish manor we left behind all those years ago." He stated, his voice dripping with disgust. "So we fix it, we aren't short on compulsion abilities." I spoke, he seemed to agree nodding his head slowly before retrieving the bags. "I'm going to find out who the residents are in the homes around here, maybe we can find a lineage we are familiar with." I notified, not giving him time to respond before disappearing in the opposite direction.

I knocked on the door of the cozy blue home, a fake smile gracing my lips. An elder woman answered the door, looking at me carefully. Her eyes seemed to spark in recognition as she studied my face carefully. "Hi, I'm Ana. My uncle and I just moved into the house down the road." I smiled, trying to be as nice as possible. The woman seemed to snap out of her trance as she looked me over a final time. "How are you still so young?" She questioned, her mouth hanging agape. "What do you mean?" I asked, confusion clear on my features. "Come in, I will show you." She invited, stepping to the side. I nodded stepping over the threshold into her home. "Follow me." She requested, disappearing into another room. I listened, walking behind her and taking a seat on one if the antique couches. "Tell me, what did you mean when you asked that?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow as she handed me a picture. It was Kol and myself; it had to be at least 150 years old and we were standing outside our home, smiling. He was dressed in the standard suit, while I went with more fashionable clothing, a light colored gown and hat. Our arms were linked together and then I notIced the third person in the photo, she had raven hair pinned up in a fancy updo, she stood next to me, a wide smile spread across her features. I recognized her almost instantly. "Michaela." I whispered, tracing her face with my thumb. "She was my grandmother." The woman spoke up, causing me to look at her, urging her to continue. "I only knew her for a short time but she spoke very kindly of you and this other man, Kol. She told me of how you rescued her as a small girl, brought her up as a daughter. But she never told me how you stayed so young. I had always wondered that. Now here you are 140 years later, having not aged a day." She trailed off in a manner that rang for me to continue. "I did know Michaela, I raised her yes, but she herself did not know how we never grew older. We never felt the need she had to know, Kol he's my uncle, I listened when he said it would be better for her if she hadn't known. If you wish to know, then come with me. I will tell you everything. But first, I must know. Is there anyone else in this home as of now?" I stood, awaiting the answer. The woman nodded. "My great-granddaughter, Cecilia. She is here, would you like to meet her?" I smiled in reply to the woman's question. "If it is alright with you."

Cecilia was a small girl no more than 12. Her hair was dark and she had big almond shaped blue eyes. She seemed to bounce around the car in excitement as we drove to the home Kol and I took residence in. "So Cecilia, do you attend school?" I asked trying to create small talk. "Yes, I'm in year 7." She replied happily, holding up 7 fingers. "Do you like it? I've heard school is fun." I continued, keeping my eyes fixated on the road. "No, it's boring. The teacher makes it no fun." She pouted, her lower lip pressing out as she gave me the puppy face. "Awe." I cooed. "It can't be that bad." Her grandmother, Abby, smiled at the way were interacting. "Maybe someday I can take you with me on a trip. We can go around the world and see all the places you learn about in school." I offered, making a turn onto the property. Her eyes went wide, and a smile tugged at her lips. "Really?" She asked, her excitement only grew when I nodded happily. "That is if it's alright with you, Abby." I turned to look at the woman briefly. "I trust you, of coarse it's alright with me." She replied, watching as Cecilia bounced in her seat. "It's settled then, when Kol and I leave, you're coming with us." I finalized, stopping the car in front of the manor. "We are here. I'll bring Kol out, just wait one moment. Cecilia would you like to help me?" I asked turning to the giddy twelve year old. She nodded quickly, jumping out of the car. "Come on then." I coaxed, holding out my hand for her. She took it quickly remaining behind my arm as we entered the home. I could hear her heart beat quicken every step we took. "Don't worry, Cecilia. Just be calm." I whispered, crouching in front of the small girl. "I'm not scared, nothing can scare me." She spoke, putting on her best tough face. I laughed quietly, nodding. "Alright then." I stood turning to the empty home. "Kol come on out! There's someone I want you to meet." In an instant Kol was in front of me, eying Cecilia darkly. "Who might this be, Anastasia?" He asked, his head tilting to one side. Cecilia shuffled behind me, using my body to hide her own. "This is Cecilia, a descendant of someone we knew well. Don't scare the poor girl, Kol." I hissed in a quieter tone, scolding him. Kol smirked, looking around me. "She's a little thing, isn't she?" He questioned, his eyes watching her every move. "You're frightening her Kol." I defended, putting my arm in front of her more. "H-hi." Cecilia managed, sticking out her small hand for Kol to shake. He took it, shaking it quickly before bending to her level. "I'm Kol." He smiled. Sometimes I swear he's bi-polar.

*1 month later*

Cecilia POV:

I was sitting in the Mikaelson house, Ana was working on my hair. Dry tears stained my cheeks, new ones coming down quickly. "Why do people have to die?" I questioned, meeting her eyes through the mirror. "It's natural, Cecilia. People live and then they go to a better place." She whispered, pinning up the last of my hair. "How come she wasn't a vampire like you?" I asked, turning in my seat. "That my dear, is a very long story. But not all people are vampires." She replies, offering a small smile. "Will I be a vampire?" I continued, I wanted answers. "That, my dear Cecilia, is completely up to you."

The priest quickly finalized the prayers and I placed a rose on the casket, reading the headstone. 'Abby Jane Whitmore' silent tears sprand to my eyes as I read over the name of the woman who raised me. "It's alright, darling. It was her time." Kol's distinct accent rang through my ears as I watched people pray. "Why did it have to be her, Kol? Why her?" I choked, wrapping my arms around him. "Sometimes things don't make sense, but they will, someday." He assured pulling me in for another hug.

Ana POV:

I watched as Kol connected with Cecilia and smiled. He hadn't been this way in far too long, he has not cared in a long time. I watched as he wrapped her tiny body in his arms, in an attempt to comfort her. My thoughts were, however, interrupted when someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around to face a man, clad in a grim suit, frown lines indented in his forehead. "Are you Ms. Anastasia Mikaelson?" He asked, looking at me approvingly. "I am, may I ask who you are?" I inquired, growing suspicious. "I am Chad Winebrook, I am Mrs. Whitmore's attorney. It seems she has left you a great deal in her will." He notified, I just nodded waiting for him to continue. "She has left you custody of her great-granddaughter, I assume you are close to the family?" He asked for confirmation. "I am, and I will gladly take Cecilia." I snapped, this man was getting on my nerves, and the stench radiating off him was very strong. The man nodded curtly, disappearing into the crowd. Only one thing ran through my mind.

How am I supposed to care for a twelve year old girl?

THIS CHAPTER IS A BIT LONGER, SORRY FOR THE WAIT. I HAD SOME THINGS TO TAKE CARE OF. I WANT TO THANK ALL MY READERS FOR READING AND I WILL TRY AND UPDATE AGAIN SOON.
