Chapter 18 ~ That One Marauder Who Captured My Heart

1 year later...approx.

I awoke to the crying of Maia. I groaned and slid out of bed, it was my turn. I walked to her room, which was next to ours, and picked her up from her cot.

"It's ok, shhh." I bounced her gently on my hip.

She is almost a year and three months, she should be sleeping full nights.

"You're my beautiful girl." I kissed her head and continued to bounce her.

She smiled brightly.

"Yes you are, yes you are." I cooed. I smiled and brushed her hair from her forehead.

It changed from the brown to a light pink. My mouth dropped.

"What the hell!" I giggled stroking her forehead.

She smiled again and her hair turned to a pale green.

"You're a metamorphagus." I breathed amazed. I walked briskly back to my room with her still in my arms and shook Sirius.

He rolled over squinting, "What's wrong?"

"Maia's a metamorphagus!" I exclaimed.

Maia smiled at her Daddy and changed her hair colour to match his.

Sirius's mouth dropped like mine, "Woah."

I nodded and stroked Maia's cheek.

"Well...that's a....surprise." Sirius smiled.

The next morning Sirius walked downstairs while I was drinking my coffee. Maia was eating breakfast in her highchair. Sirius wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed my neck.

"Good morning." He greeted.

I smiled and turned around, draping my arms around his neck. I pecked his lips, "Morning handsome."

He smiled and kissed the tip of my nose.

"I've been thinking..." He began.

"Uh oh." I teased.

He chuckled, "Well, you know how I am the secret keeper for the Potters...I was thinking what if Peter became the keeper. I think the Death Eaters would most likely come after me rather than Peter who basically everyone believes to be a wimp."

I nodded, "That makes sense. I'm actually going over to the Potter's today for tea with Lily, you could come and invite Peter too, if James agrees."

Sirius nodded, "Good thinking." He kissed me again.

A loud cry sounded from behind us.

We broke apart and turned around to see Maia sitting there with her arms crossed and a pout on her face. Sirius chuckled, "Little Miss Jealous". He picked her up and brought her over. Maia's hair turned blue.

"Dude chill with the colours!" Sirius teased ruffling her hair.

"Dudette". I corrected kissing Maia's tiny, soft hand.

Sirius laughed, "Dudette, chill with the colours!"

Maia started to giggle happily.

"Will you Peter Jackson Pettigrew promise to keep the Potter's hiding place a secret and not reveal to anyone the location or whereabouts of James and Lily Potter?" Sirius invoked.

Peter nodded, "I will."

"Then I make you the Secret Keeper. Fidelus." Sirius pointed his wand at Peter's hands and a silvery-gold band wrapped around his index finger.

"Thank you Sirius." Peter squeaked, sitting down again on the couch. I smiled as Sirius sat next to me. We had dropped Maia at Remus's while we did this in case anything...went wrong. It was weird not having her around. I didn't really feel whole without her.

"So what's going to happen during full moons' if Remus ever becomes Maia's guardian?" Peter asked.

I shrugged, "We will just have to hope he never will have to be, no offense to Remus, I'm just saying Sirius and I have no intention in dying soon." I sighed and rested my head back on the couch, closing my eyes.

"Can I hold my godson?" I heard Sirius asked Lily.

"Aw, aren't you just so cute."

I peeked through my eyelids and saw Sirius holding Harry on his knees. Baby Harry was tugging at his hair laughing. Sirius picked up Harry's hand and waved it around. The little boy giggled and grasped his finger.

"You should come over for dinner on Halloween." Lily suggested.

"It's funny to see all the muggle children dressed up as wizards and witches". James laughed.

Sirius looked at me hopefully but I shook my head,

"Lily, I'm really sorry, that's the day that we are moving into our new cottage by the beach." I said. Sirius and I are moving out of the horrid, dark, depressing Grimmauld Place and to a lovely open cottage by the beach. I honestly cannot wait. It will be so good to have a neat, open house with fresh air, for Maia to grow up in.

Lily's smile faded slightly, "That's ok. Maybe next time?"

"Definitely." I agreed.

"I can't wait till the wars' over, so then we no longer have to hide!" James groaned.

"It will be soon mate." Sirius reassured.
