Just Go With It Chapter 4

Raven’s POV

The next period and break passed by in a flash and it was finally lunch. I hurried off ahead of Jayden and the gang and grabbed a tray. I grabbed a carton of chocolate milk, a cheese burger and some carrot sticks. I know it’s a weird combination but I’m weird. I was heading for my table when I felt arms wrap around me. “Hey baby”, he whispered. Erick.

“What do you want?” I asked trying to pull free.

“You”, he said kissing my neck.

“Too late”, I said shoving him away from me.

“No you’re not going to push me away”, he said grazing up against me.

“Don’t touch me”, I said shoving him away again.

“Come on baby let’s go find somewhere more private”, he whispered. He tried to pull me towards the hallway and I hit him with my tray. He slapped me hard across the face and suddenly someone punched him. I went straight to the bathroom without looking back and collapsed in the closest stall. I felt the tears leaking down my face and I started shaking really badly.

“Rave”, a voice said and I heard him knocking on the door. I didn’t answer the tears just came down faster and I buried my head in my knees. I heard him calling my name still but I couldn’t stand up anymore. “Raven”, he said knocking again this time more urgently. I tried to get up but my feet were way too shaky. I heard doors open and I heard the bell ring but I didn’t move. Suddenly I felt arms wrap around me and I started crying harder. “I’m so sorry Raven”, he said.

“I hate my life”, I said sitting up.

“No you don’t”, he said seriously.

“I do though I hate that my parents are so nosy, I hate that I seem to be everyone’s target these days and I hate being weak”, I said.

“You’re not weak Raven you hit him and it hurt someone weak couldn’t have done that”, he said massaging my back.

“Today just sucks”, I said sadly.

“Come on”, he said standing me up, “we’re skipping last period”.

“I didn’t get my chocolate milk”, I said stretching out and getting my footing.

“We’ll get some on the way”, he suggested. We met up with everyone else outside the school and Reese immediately hugged me tightly.

“Are you okay Rave?” she asked pulling away.

“Not really”, I said honestly.

“You gave him a bruise”, Lily announced.

“Okay that kind of cheers me up”, I said shrugging.

“Come on let’s take the van”, Dylan said casually. He owned this old 60’s van with all the seats in the back ripped out.

“Alright”, I said climbing into the back and sat down on a cushion and massaged my cheek.

“Are you okay?” Jay said sitting down next to me.

“Where is Rebecca?” I asked looking around.

“Doing her makeup in the upstairs bathroom”, he replied.

“Why didn’t you grab her?” I asked confused.

“Because my idiot brother didn’t hit her”, he said looking me in the eye.

“True”, I said looking at the wall of the van.

“Did he get you with his ring?” he said touching my cheek.

“I think so”, I said touching it and he slapped my hand away and grabbed the first aid kit. “It’s fine it doesn’t hurt that bad”, I assured him. He ignored me and cleaned it up then I pulled away.

“Better”, he asked.

“Yeah”, I said sitting cross legged, “where are we going?”

“The cliff”, he answered, “stop here Dylan”.

“Chocolate milk”, Emily guessed. I sat and waited while he brought it then came back.

“Your chocolate milk”, Jay said passing it to me and then we were off again. I drank my milk and talked to people on the way there and when we got to the cliff I got out first and went out to the edge. I sat on the tip and wrapped my sweater around myself ignoring the snow under my butt. How are you? He asked concerned.

I’ve been better I really want to beat up your brother but crying tires me out, I thought.

The beating is already dealt with, he reassured me.

So it was you that was beating the crap out of him, I realized.

No one hurts my best friend, he thought seriously.

I wish I could have beaten him too, I sighed.

Hopefully that will never happen again, he replied.

I love this cliff, I thought changing the subject.

It’s so quiet out here, he agreed.

“So you and Rebecca are dating again”, I asked.

“Kind of I guess it’s complicated”, he said unsure.

“What is so complicated?” I asked surprised.

“She keeps giving my brother googly eyes”, he said puzzled.

“Relax she’s more into you”, I said.

“What were you two talking about this morning?” he asked suddenly.

“She wanted to know the game last night and I told her we were just going to be friends again”, I lied.

“Oh okay”, he nodded, “that makes sense”.

“I wish Erick had fallen for it too he ruined my day”, I said annoyed. I would slug that asshole next time he touched me.

“Listen Erick is going to be away tonight do you want to have a movie night”, he asked.

“Sure as long as one of the movies is Oliver and Company”, I said sternly.

“Of course we never have a movie night without it”, he laughed.

“I love that movie”, I smiled.

“It’s a good movie and after that we listen to Marianas Trench”, he reminded me, “then my favorite movie”.

“I accept that proposal”, I nodded.

“Good”, he smiled, “Oliver, Marianas Trench and Apollo 13”.

“Sounds like fun”, I sighed, “we can eat popcorn, candy and drink pop”.

“Great”, he agreed and we shook hands.
