(Iris's pov)
Today is my mom and John's wedding day. It's full of excitement and bustling around. Tears and love all around. That's how it's supposed to be starting off. But for me I'm in my room crying my head off. Thomas told me Rafael was on the phone and he wanted to talk to mom about me. But when Thomas said mom was out planning a wedding Rafael hung up. I'm crying not because I didn't get to talk to him, or because he wanted to talk to my mom. But because Rafael probably thinks my mom is planning a wedding for me. He probably thinks I'M getting married not her. Oh god, oh god, oh god. I would like to speak to him, I need to speak with him. But the link that binds us is silent. It's like he's given up. It's like he's let me go.

After an hour of balling my heart out and explaining everything to my mother and brother I clean myself up and put on my maid of honour dress. It hugs me nicely and twists around when I turn. It's soft and beautiful. After I get my hair done, and I insist on no makeup want so ever, I head out to go find mom. She's in her room getting her wedding gown on and I enter to help her. She sees me and cries. "Mom?! What's wrong?" She laughs and says "I'm so happy. You look so beautiful and I'm getting married to the most wonderful man. And ... It's like a fairytale come true." I envy her for a second but then I shake it off and help mom get dressed for the wedding. Thomas is walking her down the isle so I take off to go take my place with all the other brides maids. I see John in his black suit and I give him an approving smile and a wink. He flushes and waits for my mother.
The music starts to play here comes the bride and we all wait. I see Thomas turn the corner and then mom appears. Every one hushes and John looks at her with nothing but un relentless love and beauty in his eyes. For a second I picture Rafael looking at me like that but then the image fades and I know that he'll never look at me like that. In fact he'll never look at me again. Shaking off the dread and sadness I smile and watch as the wedding proceeds. It is quite the sight. Mom and John standing side by side, then the rings come and are placed on fingers. Then the kiss that seals it all. Applause sounds and then the bride it taken down the isle bridal style. Then the cake is cut and there's a dance for the newly weds. Then the toasts start. Relatives from both sides come up and say their happiness and love for their children and whatnot. Then Thomas goes up and speak about mom and John. Then finally mom says "now I have one more message to be said to me apparently. It's from my beautiful daughter whom I love with all my heart. Iris?" She looks at me shyly and I stand. I walk to the podium and start to say my speech
"Umm.. Ok well I'm not very good with speaking in front of people but for my mom I'd do anything. Today we celebrate the souls of two people coming together. Today is a day of love, peace, happiness and learning. Today I get to look at my mother and finally see in her eyes the happiness and love she's deserve. John is a man I know will take care of mom, Thomas and I. Over the years mom has had a rough go. Dad left when I was six, and so mom was left taking care of us by herself. She has many admirers but none of them treated her or my family like John did. He makes my mother so happy, and I've never seen her soul so bright as I have today. I give my toast to my mother because she's my hero. She's my inspiration. She's a champion, a fighter, and a best friend in my eyes. She thinks she's failed us, she thinks she could have been better. But looking at where we are now, looking at the strength in Thomas and I, I'd say" I pause to look at mom before I continue, "she didn't fail. She gained only strength and love. And she's made me a fighter. She's showed me on how to not give up when times are rough. She has shown me how there's a perfect someone out there for everyone. To mom and my new father John. I love you guys both" the applause starts and tears are shed. I only see my moms eyes and the love sparkling in them for me. She rushes over to me and hugs me tight. "How did I get a wonderful daughter like you?" I laugh and say "you fought for me"

As the day comes to a close and mom and John are off on their honeymoon Thomas and I head home. "What a busy but successful day" I say. Thomas nods but says nothing. "Are you still upset about the Rafael thing?" I ask him. He sighs "I should have just given you the phone. Maybe then you would still have your special someone too" I sigh and hug Thomas tightly. Kissing his cheek I say "I don't blame you. If Rafael chose to let me go because he thought I was getting married then it's his own fault. He has to realize that it was mom not I who was getting married." He nods. I yawn and say that I'm heading upstarts to shower and change. As I'm stepping out of the shower I try to send a message down the link through our minds
Rafael talk to me. Please? We need to talk about something. I need you to answer me. I need you.
I wait for his reply but the echoing silence is killing me slowly. Is he really giving up? Is he really gone for good? Is Rafael and I no more? Are we done? Is he really giving up and letting me go...? The questions slash wounds into me one by one and I can't take this pain. I refuse to believe that he's not mine anymore.
Leaving the bathroom I head to my room and I grab his letter and read it again and again and again. Trying to make sense of why he'd just give up on me. He promised to come back! He can't just leave now. As tears stream down my face I plunge into a deep, dreamless sleep that swallows my entire soul whole and it's caress seems much better than the actual world. It's darkness seems better than the light of the living.
