(Third person pov)
For the next few days the girl and her friend did everything they could together. Because they hadn't seen each other in a while. So as Iris and Rain laughed and talked they became closer, and they mourned the loss of Iris' family. Then one day as Rain was leaving she decided to help out Iris. So she headed to the vets place and decided to buy that puppy. He and Iris seemed to have gotten along off the bat and it seemed that those two were destined to meet. So with no other priority in her mind the girl went and decided to buy her best friend a late birthday present.
(Iris's pov)
Every day since I saw Rafael on our one year I've never taken the necklace off. Everyday it reminds me that he too is waiting for me and that he's not giving up. So neither will I. Everyday my sadness has disappeared piece by piece, and I've never felt happier than I do today. Smiling and laughing has certainly cured everything. Laughing to myself I hope out of the shower get dressed and start to hum to myself. I've just finished cleaning my room when I decide to go look at the webpage that they have for Zeke. I just want to see this pups face once again, I have only gone once or twice to visit him and it's hard. The puppy would jump all over me and give slobbery kisses to my cheek. And we'd play for a bit, but every time I had to go he'd howl and cry and growl at anyone who tried to take him away. Only I could place him back in his crate and leave without a single scratch. Smiling at this I open up the webpage skim through all the info and then I stop. My hands shake and my eyes water.
ADOPTED
Is written all over his ad. Those big eyes that stare at me, those paws that hug me when ever I'm there. His little happy bark, and his slobbery kisses. I'll never get to see that again. I'll never get to feel his soft velvet fur. Oh why, why, why?! Just when everything seemed to go great this happens! I sigh. Closing the computer down I get up and go downstairs. Shaking off the sad feelings, I refuse to let them dampen my good mood, I decide to go read a book. I'm just getting into it when Rain enters my house. "Hey Iris!" She says jubilantly. I smile and nod at her "hi. Where have you been?" She smiles slyly. "I went and got you a very late birthday present." I frown "awe you didn't have to do that." She nods "I know but I wanted to. And I know you'll love him."
"Him?" She gasps and covers her mouth. Then she giggles and says "guess the cats out of the bag. Or should I say dog." I launch myself at her and squeeze her tightly. "You didn't? You adopted Zeke?!!!" I squeal and she laughs. Then she nods and goes out of the house. I hear a car door open then close. A minute later a blur of grey, black, and brown streaks across my living room. I laugh and squat down as Zeke launches into my arms. "Oh Zeke, you're home now. My sweet sweet puppy. Oh Rain thank you so much. I'll pay you back!" I say. She shakes her head "no. You deserved happiness and this puppy did too. You two seemed to get along great and the vets couldn't find anyone to adopt because he bit everyone. So they gave him to me gladly." I laugh again. That's Zeke for you.
"ok well at least let me repay you somehow." She shakes her head. Then I think of something and a frown tickles my lips. "Isn't the paper work in your name?" She nods "yeah but that doesn't mean we can't change that. I told them I was buying him for you and the receptionist was so happy she has already transferred the legal name and adoption over to you. So he's all yours!!" I hug her again and then I place Zeke on the floor. He rushes off to go explore his new home. Looking at Rain I say "thank you. Will you help me raise this puppy? That's the least I can repay you." Rain smiles triumphantly "yes. I'll help you raise that adorable pup. He's grown on me too you know." And so together Rain and I decide a schedule and together we will raise this pup.
I walk after him to go see what he's doing and he give me a happy bark before jumping on the couch and falls asleep. Rain says she's heading out and I tell her ok see you later. After the house settles down I sit beside Zeke, my little ray of sunshine and smile. Looks like we'll both have some growing to do. But at least we can do it together. "Sleep tight Zeke." I whisper. Then I grab my book and continue reading where I left off.
Today was a fairytale
A/n: book two is now officially over!! Oh my gosh. I can't believe it. Thank you to all my readers who have kept me willing to write. Without your reads I probably would have stopped sooner. But I'm glad I can get over 200 reads. I can't believe the betrayal, love, and death, that's happened through this book. It's been quite the ride. But don't worry the story isn't over yet. Book three will be coming out soon. So please hold your shorts as more mysteries and love and betrayals are made in the third book of the Devils Promise series, Fools Hope. Until next time my lovelies. Xo
