"Damn..." I sighed as I stared at the home-pregnancy test I bought earlier this week. "What am I going to do?" I mumbled, thoughts racing rapidly as I thought about my boyfriend's reaction.
As soon as I heard steps coming up the stairs, I threw the test back in the box it came in, then shoved it in the brown paper bag I received from the store clerk and shoved it to the bottom of the trash bin next to the toilet. I made sure it wasn't noticeable with the rest of the things in there.
"Baby girl?" I hear my boyfriend, Nate, call out. "You here?" He asked before checking our bedroom.
"In here!" I called out from the bathroom and soon enough he appears with a black t-shirt under his blue flannel. He leaned his shoulder against the door frame and I smiled at him.
"You ready to go to the airport?" He asked, walking up to me and slipping his hands around my waist. "My parents are excited to see you again," he smiled and it made me forget about the results to the test.
"Yes, I am. Let's go, we don't want to miss our flight." I tell him, pulling him out the door.
Our suitcases were already packed in the backseat of our car and we hurried off to the airport.
"There you are! Welcome home." We were greeted by Nate's parents and they helped put the luggage in their car. "So glad you're spending father's day with us," Nate's mom chimes in with a warm smile.
"Hey, anything for pops here," Nate says, placing his hand on his dad's shoulder then giving it a squeeze.
"I was actually talking to Y/N, but we're glad you're here too, Skate." Nate's mom playfully replies, as she placed her hands on her son's cheek and squeezing it a bit.
"It's no problem," I reply, flashing a genuine smile. "You've been a father figure in my life since my father's passing, so it just seemed right," I tell Nate's dad who pulls me into a tight hug. I felt Kami rub my back, knowing how hard it was to deal with my dad's death.
"How's your mom?" Kami wondered as Monte and I broke away from our hug.
"She's great. She's actually visiting my grandparents, who are out of the states." I shared and she nods her head.
"Shall we head home?" Monte asked, cutting the conversation short.
I look at Nate who nods his head. He opens the passenger's door for his mom as I got into the backseat. Shortly after, he was right beside me and we headed off to their place.
As we were at a stop light, a few blocks from the house, I met Monte's eyes in the rearview mirror. He smiled and I returned the gesture.
"Oh Y/N, sweetheart, you look amazing by the way," Nate's mom turns to face me and blurts out as if it slipped her mind earlier. "Are you using a special cream or something? Your skin looks amazing and healthy. You're literally radiating," she compliments. "The last time I looked like that, I was pregnant with Stew," she adds.
"Whoa, mom relax she's not pregnant. I'm definitely not ready to be a dad yet." Nate jumps in, laughing a little.
I forced a smile and a small laugh. "And what do you mean the last time you were glowing was when you were pregnant? You were glowing just this morning," Nate's dad compliments his wife, causing me to let out an "aw."
"Smooth dad. Really smooth." Nate chuckles. I saw Kami turn red as her husband brought her hand to his lips, giving it a quick kiss.
"Take notes, son. Keep your woman happy and you won't regret it."
"Will do." Nate looks at me and gives me a kiss on my forehead.
