There's a quiet knock on my bedroom door at two in the afternoon.
Muffled giggles. Then another couple of knocks, before I hear a voice. "Milly, we're coming in wether you like it or not, okay?"
And then Stephanie and Patricia are standing in the middle of my room, armed with a big duffel bag and Stephanie's favourite make up box. I sat up, startled. "Who let you in?" I asked groggily, shielding my eyes from the natural light beaming into my dark cave of self-pity.
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed," Patricia commented with a hand on her hip. "Your mum did. She said you were moping in your room for unknown reasons and that we had to 'fix you'." Pat continued, emphasising the obvious quotation marks around 'fix you'.
"Typical," I muttered, flopping back onto my bed and pulling the covers up with me.
"We've been texting you all day, surely you got our group chat messages?" She asks, looking around my room, presumably to find my phone. I had thrown it in a moment of frustration and I had no idea where it had landed.
Stephanie looked at me worriedly when I didn't reply. "Okayy.. Anyways, we were talking about what we were wearing to Evan's party tonight. And trying to come up with a plan to A: get there, and B: get me and Jordan officially together. But when you didn't reply, we figured something was up, and since the party's in a couple hours we came here straight away so we could get ready together." She finishes, taking a seat on my bed and crossing one long leg over the other, pushing her hair back.
I hesitated, then sighed. I guess now was as good a time as any to tell them. "Actually, guys. I don't really want to go to Evan's party. You see, he is a lying cheating asshole,"
They gape at me, then at each other, then back at me, I couldn't help but laugh, albeit weakly, because they looked so comical.
"Wait wait wait WHAT?" Pat comes and sits on my other side, hugging me, mirroring Stephanie. I was struggling to hold back my tears, but managed to, I had cried too much in the past few days.
"Oh babe, why didn't you tell us?" Stephanie cooed as she stroked with my hair.
"I.. I was embarrassed, because I wasn't good enough to be his only one, I guess i'm not interesting enough or pretty eno-" I was cut off by Patricia, who looked like a lightbulb had just gone off in her head. I was surprised, she never had ideas.
"Okay, first of all. It's a problem on his end, not yours. Shit, you're prettier than ninety-nine percent of the girls at our school! Second of all I never liked him, the way he would look into every window and mirror we passed to check himself out, bleh. Third, I think we should go to the party."
Stephanie stood up at the last part, and folded her arms over her pushed-up cleavage.
"Patricia, sweetie. Love the idea but in case you forgot it's Evan's party, and due to recent revelations we hate him."
Patricia grinned back, also folding her arms.
"Yeah.. but remember why we came here, to turn sleeping beauty over here into a sexy bombshell for tonight, so what i'm saying is, we stick with that plan, take her to the party all dolled up and let Evan see what he stupidly lost, just to rub it in a bit, then Milly grabs some guy and kisses him right in front of Evan, because she can get any guy she wants, and that's when he'll know he fucked up big time, and then.."
"Woah, woah, so what you're saying, is that we go to Evan's house, crash his birthday party, then I make out with some dude in front of him so he feels shit, need I repeat it on his birthday?"
