I had the interview, they told me they could do it right then. I felt put on the spot, but I really needed the job so I just switched on the Milly charm and made sure the guy that interviewed me knew just how badly I wanted to make Big Macs all day.
I got it, of course. No one could resist me once I had on my special smile. I was given the uniform and left the restaurant feeling proud of myself for achieving something.
Next thing on my list: makeup with Ryan.
I stood below his bedroom window, deciding to avoid awkwardly seeing his parents in case he refused to speak to me. I began throwing small pebbles at the glass, feeling like the guy of some cheesy teen movie.
He came to the window, annoyance clouding his features as he pulled the curtain back. When he saw it was me, he rolled his eyes but opened the window.
"It's not like you to pull a Romeo stunt on me, usually it's me chasing you," he called down to me. I grinned sheepishly.
"May I come in?" I put on my sweetest voice and batted my eyelids.
Four minutes later I was lying on his bed while he sat facing me in his desk chair. We were joking about people at school shunning me, almost back to old mates.
"I'm sorry I was a dick about what you wanted, I just loved what we had," he tells me in a burst of confession. "Mates with benefits and all that shit."
"Yeah, I'm sorry I couldn't have that with you anymore," the atmosphere grew quiet as we both contemplated how stupid it had been to fight over.
"I'm gonna miss feeling your tits every now and then," he smirked, and I hit him with a pillow.

My first week at work was tough, I wasn't used to answering to people like that and having to do every little thing I'm told, but somehow I got through my training and started serving.
I worked three school nights and late Saturday night, but I wasn't really missing out on social stuff anymore so I didn't really mind.
Dad cried a bit when I told him and Mum I'd gotten a job to help them out, and Mum told me we'd see how everything went. She was still going to try work, and Dad wasn't going to give up trying.
Everything was going fine that first week until Steph and Jordan pulled up at the drive-thru without warning. There was nothing I could do except stand there and take their order, humiliation almost overcoming me as I handed them the food.
They were trying not to laugh as they drove off, they didn't say thank you or anything, and I couldn't wait to hear about all of this on Monday.
I drifted through school now, zombie-like. Ryan and I had no classes in common, and I didn't want to subject him to have to be my friend at lunch so I quarantined myself in the library in between classes, and walked the half-hour home every day.
Yeah, that week was rough.
