Imagine all the crazy things that would happen if a nineteen year old college student had their own house just off campus. I really don't have to imagine, I am that nineteen year old. My folks bought the place but I'm stuck with the electricity, T.V., water and just about everything else bills. So, I obtained a few roommates, which isn't that horrible since the house was too big and lonely for just me, especially when there was no parties going on.
There's Gabe Saporta, he's chill, he brings me weed instead of actual payment sometimes, but I'll accept it. He's kind of like me, he's not so sure why he's here or what he's going to do with his life. I think Gabe is really only in college for the parties, though he says he's interested in fire. I tried to tell him you can't get a degree in fire, but he didn't believe me.
That brings me to Ryan Ross. Total fucking nerd, all he does is sit in his room and read. One time, he tried making popcorn and set the microwave on fire, we tease him a lot for that, along with a bunch of other things. Ryan has a lot to tease, he dresses with browns and reds like he's in the sixties with his scarves and dumb hair cut. He's majoring in English, which, to be fair he is a great writer. Sometimes I can hear him strumming his acoustic guitar and singing a song he wrote.
Then there's Gerard Way, an art student who will go on and on about aliens. He paints his room at least once a week, not a solid colour though, but he creates designs all around the room with his different paint brushes, until he hates it so much he covers it up and starts over. He's got this fire red hair that he strokes his fingers through whenever he's warming up the coffee in the morning. He only makes two cups, one for me and one for him, everyone else has to fuck off and make their own.
We also have a new guy, he is a foreign exchange student, studying abroad or something. He came here a week before the beginning of the fall semester, so about a week ago, and I've barely seen him. He's gone before I go downstairs and he's back before me, locked away in his bedroom. He has poofy caramel hair and a British accent, but that's all I can really say about him. Like I said, he mostly keeps to himself.
The only girl we have here is Danielle, (I argue that Ryan should count as a girl too but he just flips me off and looks back to his book). Though, Dani isn't a girly girl, she's like one of the guys. She loves doing shots and cursing like a sailor with the rest of us. She's got wild blue hair, and get this, she's studying to be a doctor. I know, I wouldn't believe it either if I didn't know her, but I've come to learn she's good at separating work and play.
And we can't forget about the most important person- me, Jack Barakat. Slick dude with brown hair with a bleach blonde stripe racing through it and it all spiked up like a porcupine. I bring the party wherever I go, much like Gabe but with slightly less drugs and slightly more alcohol. I have no clue what I'm going to do with my life, but I'm only nineteen so fuck it!
We all kind of jumble together to make this awkward time between birth and death a little better. We all follow the rules, we all do our jobs, we all play our parts and somehow, we come out alive; a little bruised and scared, but alive nonetheless.
Okay okay, enough of the getting to know you bullshit. I have a real story to tell you here. It involves a lot of parties, explosions, crashes, getting a little lost, finding out what the real meaning of kangaroo is and quite possibly falling in love. Not all in that order though.
