Guys, another update! I finally finished this semester's exams! Yay!
Anyway, enjoy the chapter!
I've always believed that you can see through people from their eyes. I don't know whether it is their shape, or the orbs, but the eyes can give you a picture of the person standing opposite you. They never lie. The cruelty of one is perfectly reflected in them. Even if you try to ignore the instinct about certain people, you'll find out that in the end it was right all along.
That happened to me before. First with Louis and then with Vesper.
I came to the conclusion that it wasn't the colour of the eyes that makes you trust people. It is commonly reckoned that blue eyes are a sign of kindness and innocence and darker eyes belong to 'evil' people. In fact, the people who had hurt me the most had blue eyes...
I had this weird feeling about Vesper from the very first moment our eyes met. She seemed to me neither honest nor kindhearted. Her icy blue eyes could make me frozen solid in a snap. It was crystal clear to me that she didn't like me at all. Her gaze to me was defiant, her smirk was small and devilish. I knew, deep down, that I would be tormented by her existence.
She kept looking at Louis the entire time she was talking to us, her confidence was transparent. She explained that she worked for the company we were supposed to deal with, that she was the lawyer we would have most contact with and her boss sent her at our hotel to welcome us. That was all I caught from her words. I was too surprised and curious with her 'adhesion' to Louis. It seemed like she knew him from before and was playing with him. My eyes travelled between the two as she talked. He clearly looked nervous and uncomfortable with her. It wasn't normal. Something was going on.
His eyes were staring at the polished floors underneath us and he avoided speaking or looking at us. His hands were ruffling the pockets of his pants. His behaviour was so strange and unnatural for him, that I tried to find the explanation of his actions.
My first thought was that he fancied her. She was such an statuesque woman. Beautiful, clever and confident. The exact opposite of me. No man could deny her. I felt a slight pain in my chest, but I clang to that assumption anyway. It would be better for me if Louis desired another woman and not me. But then again, if that was, in fact, true he would have tried to flirt with her and be more open, wouldn't he?
My second thought was that she wanted him. And as time passed by, I was becoming more and more sure of it. It was obvious. Nevertheless, her despise towards me was unjustified. I wasn't a couple with Louis, I was just his employee and nothing more. I shook my thoughts away and listened to her.
"Mr. Peterson and I will be waiting for you at our company in..." she looked at her silver watch. "...approximately three hours. I hope that'll be enough for you to rest and get settled." she turned to me. "I'll be seeing you soon." I shook hands with her as she turned to Louis. "Really soon." she smirked and took Louis' hand in hers.
