It had been a week since the attack on the training facility, and every Avenger had been called back to headquarters; Ivy couldn't remember a time when she'd seen all of them together at once. Everything in the past week was a blur; full of government crap, loud arguments, and a confused team.
Not to mention that the amount of sleep anyone had gotten was insanely minimal. Ivy had barely managed to stay awake through her first period (unfortunately, the schools had reopened this morning) and she was failing miserably during second period: US history. Mr. Rawls went on about the Mayflower Compact while Ivy rested her head on her hand, having abandoned her quest on taking notes, a blank piece of notebook paper and a pen rested on her desk.
"Ivy? Ivy! Will someone wake her up please?"
A nudge in her side jerked Ivy awake, and she glanced up at a very irritated Mr. Rawls.
"Ivy, this is the second time you've dozed off in my class today," he said, his arms crossed.
"Sorry, Mr. Rawls," Ivy told him," I had a long week."
Mr. Rawls sighed, a faint look of sympathy on his face.
"Well, can we get you another cup of coffee?" he asked.
Ivy shook her head," Thanks, but this is my fourth cup in the past hour, I don't think caffeine is going to work."
"You're going to have to know this for the exam," Mr. Rawls pointed out," I suggest you find a way to keep yourself awake." He suddenly slammed his palm on his desk," Tristan!"
Tristan jolted awake in the desk next to Ivy's," George Washington!"
The class sniggered and Mr. Rawls pinched the bridge of his nose,
"Eyes on the board, Mr. Stark!" he snapped.
"Yes sir," Tristan replied, blinking his eyes.
As Mr. Rawls started rambling on about the lesson again, Ivy glanced at Tristan, who returned her glance with a very Stark-ish look that said he plainly wished to be anywhere else. Unlike Ivy, who was in her sweatpants, Tristan still kept up his sharp appearance, but the grey under his eyes proved that that his outfit was the only thing sharp about him.
"How you holding up, kid?" Said a voice in her ear, if she wasn't so out of it, she would've jumped out of her skin. Keeping one eye on Mr. Rawls, she moved a finger to the com-link in her ear."Scott, is that you?" she whispered.
"Yeah. Tony wanted me to make sure nothing weird happened at school," Scott replied," Don't look, but I'm on your shoulder."
This wasn't surprising, she figured that someone was watching them. Scott Lang was obviously the perfect choice, as he could shrink to the size of a fly and watch without drawing attention to himself. Ivy probably wouldn't have ever noticed he was there if he hadn't pointed it out.
"So, this is what they teach you kids now days," Scott remarked," Interesting."
"Not helping, Scott."
"Sorry."
By the end of that class period, Ivy was just about done trying to stay awake, and apparently, so was Tristan.
"That's it, I'm done!" Tristan shouted as they walked out of Mr. Rawls' class," I am going home and I am going to bed!"
"Well, that didn't take long," Ivy remarked as people turned to stare," and just F.Y.I., Scott's here."
"Hi, Scott. Now can we leave?" Tristan asked," I feel like I'm literally sleep walking into yesterday's meeting."
Ivy sighed, an explosion of their latest intel filling her mind.
