"Absolutely not!" Tony nearly shouted.
Ivy sighed heavily, she knew that he obviously wasn't going to love the idea, as he and Peter Quill had never really gotten along.
"Tony, we can't just go rocket into space territory without someone who knows what they're doing," Ivy told him, it felt like she'd been saying it for the past hour.
"I know what I'm doing!" Tony snapped.
"No, you don't," Ivy disagreed," and do you know how many people would just love to get their hands on the head honcho Avenger?"
"I think she's right, Tony."
"Shut up, Rhodey!"
James Rhodes- more formally known as War Machine- had gotten back from Poland the night before, when Jaelyn had broken herself and Tanya out of prison. Ivy had asked him for support, as Tony usually listened to his long-time best friend.
"Look, we'll figure something out, but we're not calling that bug-eyed son-of-a-"
"We don't have time to figure something out," Ivy told him," Maro could have figured out that there are two shards by now, and Peter is like the only one with decent-ish connections to Taneleer Tivan."
Tony shook his head," No. This conversation is over."
With that he stormed from the room, which was no surprise either.
"Well, you tried," Rhodey commended," Most people would have given up before even trying."
"He has to change his mind," Ivy said," If he doesn't, then I'm not going to have to call Peter myself and then he's going to be pissed at me for like two months!"
Rhodey grimaced," Who knows? Maybe he'll come to his senses."
"Yeah, when has that ever worked out?"
Ivy strode out of the room, combing her fingers through her black hair. Peter dropped down off the ceiling, falling into stride next to her.
"So, that went well," he said knowingly.
Ivy stopped in the middle of the hallway, turning to look at him abruptly.
"I need a day off," she decided aloud.
Peter arched an eyebrow," That's a new one. The last time you told me that you were, what, thirteen?"
Ivy chuckled, her last 'day off' had actually been Peter's idea.
****
"Ivy-hey!"
Ivy squealed as Peter's webs caught her, flipping her upside down.
"Peter!" Ivy whined, trying to reach up and undo the sticky substance holding her boots to the ceiling of her room.
"You just stormed out of school, you don't get to come down till I say so," Peter declared, crossing him arms across his chest.
Ivy huffed but gave up on trying to free herself.
"What now?" she challenged, raising her eyebrows.
"Now you tell me why you stormed out of school." He flipped back up onto the ceiling, hanging upside down in front of her.
She sighed," Fine. I fell asleep in class again and got detention."
Peter cocked his head at her," Detention, huh? I wonder how many times Tony got detention."
"Tony wasn't an Avenger when he was thirteen, Peter." She sighed, her brows furrowed," I should be able to handle this."
