Normally Myra just wasn't into parties, they were loud and obnoxious and a perfect place for psychos to hide out. At the moment, however, anything to get her away from the tower was welcome.
Chloe had somehow gotten the party together in a week; she was frantic (apparently something was missing), but Myra was just in awe. It would have taken her months to get this together.
The entire school had been over-decked in all things Halloween: flashing black lights, spiderwebs, haunted houses in the classrooms, fake blood dripping all over the place, skeletons hanging from the ceiling, evil laughter floating around, it was a very real party.
"This is insane!" Austin shouted over the loud music.
He and Nate had gone as some guys from the Walking Dead with some convincing, Tristan, on the other hand, had gone as Dr. Strange and was very proud.
Myra didn't like Halloween too much, but she'd dressed up as a witch for support anyway to make Chloe happy.
"That's one word for it!" Myra replied loudly as they walked through the crowded cafeteria. All the tables had been removed and replaced by a giant graveyard looking thing.
"How'd she do all this?!" Nathan asked, shaking his head.
"She's Chloe, are kidding?" Myra replied, if there was one thing Chloe could do, it was plan a party. Where was she anyway?
After glancing around, she found Chloe running around the giant food table on the side of the cafeteria. She'd come as a twenties flapper, her blonde hair pin-curled and her dress studded with pearls.
Myra waved her over,"Nice party!" she shouted.
"Really!?" Chloe replied in surprise," everything's wrong! The food is supposed to be in the haunted mansion- not the graveyard! The stupid skit the football team is attempting is completely off-"
"Chloe, relax!" Austin told her," Everything looks fine to me!"
Chloe grimaced,
"Okay, I guess I'm a little on edge," she admitted."You kinda have the right to be," Nathan reminded her.
"Okay, you're probably right- HEY! THE ZOMBIES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE COURTYARD!" She sprinted off in another direction, and Myra chuckled.
"Well, what now?!" she asked the boys," What exactly do you do at parties?!"
They shrugged,
"Dance like idiots?!" Austin suggested," That's what we usually do!"
****
Unbelievable. Chloe shook her head, she'd given the most simple instructions and even those weren't followed. This stupid party was a disaster, but at least everyone else seemed to be satisfied. She'd finally given up trying to fix everything and just stepped back to enjoy the party with Tristan and his red cape.
"Okay, I am going to chill!" she commanded aloud," I am fully capable of enjoying my own party!"
Tristan laughed at her, at least he seemed to be enjoying the party.
"And what are you laughing at?" Chloe raised her eyebrows challengingly.
"You're talking to an Avenger, sweetheart. You aren't the only one who has to persuade them self to relax," he reminded her.
He wasn't wrong, she guessed. There were some days she could recall when she had deliberately told him to skip class and go get some sleep. He's refused each time.
"True," she admitted," But then again, you kind of save the world on a daily basis so you can play the sympathy card."
She vaguely remembered when he had saved her, when she'd nearly cracked his skull open...it brought unpleasant thoughts.
