Looking Back...

It's weird looking back and seeing how much I've changed.

I used to be such a happy person.

I always greet people with a smile on my face.

I tend to be that radiant light that shines upon those who needs cheering.

I was that girl.

I really was.

But now...

It all started one fast-paced afternoon.

I am never the respectful type.

As you might have noticed,

I don't draw the line between friends and elders.

I see everyone as equals.

So during classes...

You can say...

Well...

"Where are you going?"

"Bathroom. Would you like to accompany me?"

The class was silent.

"No. Go ahead."

See how easily I can get away with it?

Of course, I gave her a smile.

And she returned it with the same enthusiasm.

Truth be told, I don't really intend to go to the bathroom.

I'm just tired listening of the same old crap I've heard a thousand times.

They're all the same thing.

This is that and that is this.

You get what I mean, right?

So I decided to go straight to the canteen and buy some snacks...

What can I say? I'm one hungry student.

And there...

I saw him.

He looked familiar.

Maybe not.

I'm not sure.

He was smiling...

Interesting.

How that smile goes.

It's...

Genuine.

It's hard to explain...

But that moment,

I told myself that I will someday know his name.

And maybe even get to be friends with him.

I don't know.

I really don't.

But as for now,

I can only think of that smile.

That smile that captivated me so much.

I can't explain it...

How his smile,

though not as big as mine was,

had that same intensity and impact.

And most of all,

it had something that my smile never had...

GENUINENESS.
