*What's your problem?*

I woke up to someone shaking me. My eyes focused in and out trying to find the person. When my eyes finally focused I looked into deep, bright blue eyes. Lucas. I breathed a sigh of relief and closed my eyes.

"No, don't close your eyes. Look at me." he ordered.

"Why? What happened?" I asked groggily.

"I think he gave you a concussion. Keep your eyes open."

Lucas was being awfully rude. He had an attitude I didn't appreciate. Especially after getting hurt.

"Whatever. I'm fine." I huffed out.

"No your not. It's bad enough you were sleeping with a concussion. You don't need any more sleep."

"Oh my god! I'm fine, Lucas!"

"Whatever. I'm done anyway." Lucas got up and opened the door to a very mad Rachel. She walked in and Lucas slammed the door shut on the way out.

Tears rolled down my cheeks and Rachel raced to my side.

"I'm so sorry, Bri. I shouldn't have left you alone with him. How bad did he hit you?"

"Apparently I have a concussion. I can't feel anything so I don't know what else hurts or is damaged."

"I can't believe he punched you."

"What? He didn't punch me. He backhanded me a couple times, but never punched me."

"He must have hit you pretty hard because your forehead is bleeding." I furrowed my eye brows and got up to look in the bathroom mirror. I felt the warm trickle of blood before I saw it. It just ran down from my hairline so Lucas missed it.

I suddenly felt very lightheaded and I grasped the sink for support.

"Bri?" Rachel's concerned voice echoed through my head. "Bri!" She yelled as I fell to the floor and fell victim to the darkness.

"Lucas!" pause. "Lucas! Help me!"

"What?! What's-," murmers.

"Help her no-," more murmers.

"Brianne? Listen to my voice baby. I need you to pull through. Wake up baby." Who was that? He sounded very familiar but who was he? Why was he calling me baby?

"No-," pause. "Did you hear-," nothing. "Don't close your eyes."

His voice faded as darkness claimed me once again.

***********

I lay in my bed for twenty minutes, trying to wake up all the way. I stared at the ceiling listening to any noises going on outside of my room.

I decided I was tired of resting and got up. I felt pain in my temple and winced as all the blood rushed to my head. My vision momentarily left me and I grasped onto the wall to keep my balance.

When my vision returned to me I walked out of the room and went in search of Rachel. I stumbled in the hallways and almost fell down the stairs a couple times.

I stopped in mid step when I heard a gasp. I looked up and saw Rachel staring at me with tears in her eyes.

"Why are you crying?" I choked out.

"I'm surprised and I'm scared at the same time." she said.

"Why? Of who?" I asked.

"Tu." <You>

"Perché stai paura di me?" <Why are you scared of me?>

"I'm not scared of you. I'm just scared of how strong you are. You get hurt and is trying your hardest to do something risky. Walking down steps for example." She laughed and helped me down the rest of the way.

Lucas rounded the corner when we got to the bottom and sent a mean glare my way. I was taken back and gasped at his actions. He walked towards me and picked me up bridal style then walked up the stairs.

"Why are you up?" Lucas asked me.

"Put me down Lucas!" I yelled.

"Answer my question, Brianne."

"Because I'm tired of laying around."

"Well, get used to it because you have a major concussion."

"I will be fine. I've suffered worse."

"Like what? What in your seventeen years of living had you suffered worse than a concussion?" He bellowed.

"You know what, put me down. Now, Lucas!"

Lucas walked through my bedroom door and dropped me on the bed. I winced when my head jostled around. He walked out and slammed the door.

"Ugh! Sei così irritante!" I yelled. <Ugh! You're so annoying!>

That was the second time today that he has slammed my door shut. I was getting really tired of his attitude. I growled and stood up to leave. I opened my door and walked towards his room. How I knew he was in his room was a mystery. I just knew.

I threw his bedroom door open and stepped in. "What's your problem?!" I yelled.

"My problem is that you won't stay in bed will you have a concussion. Let's go." He grabbed my arm but I yanked it away from him and shot to the other side of the room.

"You're so infuriating woman!" He yelled.

"Me? Infuriating?!"

"Yes! I'm trying to help you! But you don't want to listen. You want to front and pretend that you're stronger than you really are!"

"I can take care of myself thank you." I stated confidently.

"Really? That's not what I thought when I saw you lying on the floor after Christian left you!"

"Then what did you think?"

He stopped. "It doesn't matter! What matters is that you need to go lay down until your concussion goes away."

"I am fine, Lucas! Like I said, I've been through worse." I lowered my voice down to a whisper at that last statement.

"Like what, Brianne? What have you gone through that could possibly be worse? You were a protected child. How could you have gotten worse than a concussion your whole life?"

I hesitated. I wasn't sure if I was ready to tell him my past. I didn't want to lose him either. He's angry at something. If I tell him now, he might get even angrier.

I sighed and turned around to lift up the back of my shirt. When my shirt reached my shoulder blades Lucas gasped.

After a few moments I dropped the end of my shirt and turned around to face him. His eyes were wide and I could see the tears forming in them. For the first time in twenty-four hours I saw the old Lucas.

The one I fell in love with.

"Now, when I say I'm okay. I mean it."
