Recap:
A little later that night, I woke up in the middle of the night when I heard a loud thump outside the door. I quickly dismissed it and got up to go to my room to change my clothes- they were starting to get uncomfortable.
I opened the door and came face- to- face with someone's back. I calmed down realizing it was the guard Lucas assigned to keep me safe. I explained to him what I was doing and went on my way.
After changing into a tank top and shorts I went downstairs to get me a drink. After pouring me some orange juice, I downed it and looked around the room-feeling watched.
I noticed everything was the same as I left it. But what I didn't notice was the shadow standing in the corner of the room-waiting for the perfect moment.

I headed back upstairs into Lucas' room and thanked the guard and wished him a good night. after I shut the door I walked into the huge bathroom and did my business. After washing my hands, I walked out and laid back into the bed. I watched TV for a moment before rolling over and shutting my eyes.
A few seconds later I heard a very loud thump outside the door. I jumped in my bed and stared at the door. When I heard nothing else I dismissed it as the guard dropping his phone. I rolled back over a drew in deep breaths- trying to calm my nerves.
Then I heard the door open and footsteps come inside. I closed my eyes and pretended I was asleep. Then I heard the door shut and the sound of a lock. My heart beat accelerated and I tried to slow my breathing, but I got more and more scared when I heard the footsteps getting closer.
I had to get out, but the weight of the blankets were going to slow me down. Still pretending to be asleep, I struggled in the covers and kicked them off, rolling to the other side of my body.
The intruder was standing in the path of the bathroom door. If I could get past him and get in there, he would never catch me. But I had one shot. If I made one mistake, I wouldn't make it.
I felt the intruder kneel down onto the floor. He was so close, I could feel his breath on my face. Then, he dragged his cold fingers along my cheek and down my jaw. I drew in a deep breath and slowly blew it out. Giving him a small smile to fool him that I was dreaming.
He stayed there for a minute and I contemplated on whether I should move now or...
"Brianne, I know you're awake. You can't fool me." Christian's voice rang through my ears- like nails on a chalkboard.
I jumped out of my bed and shot to the other side of the room- bringing the sheet with me. Christian just laughed at me and advanced towards me. I stayed in the corner and gave him my best death glare. My shifter side had awoken when he first spoke. I was on high defense, I was ready to claw his throat out.
Where did that come from?
Christian stopped in front of me and yanked the sheet away from my body. He looked down at my body then back up at my eyes. "How could I hurt something so beautiful?" he said.
"I'm wondering the same thing." I replied bravely.
"But, now I remember why. Because that's what I made to do."
"What are you talking about?"
"Did Lucas not tell you what else was out there? Shifters and Fae are not the only supernatural force out there." He laughed. "For someone who says that they love you, he sure does keep you out of the dark. If he doesn't tell you this stuff, then you wouldn't know how to defend yourself, now would you?"
