***Brianne's P.O.V***
I had woken up in a sunny place. Sitting up, I noticed I was in a field of beautiful white lilies. I wasn't scared, if anything, I was at peace.
Was I dead?
No, my subconscious screamed at me. I got up and looked for anyone who might be in this wonderful place with me. Then I remembered him.
Where is Lucas? Or Hades- I should say.
Saying our human names didn't sound right here. Here, I was Persephone. I was the goddess of all the beauty I was currently standing in. I couldn't wait to see Hades again. But he was to remain in the Underworld. I could feel him through our link. But he would not see me for a while.
I had to get my mind off him, the sorrow of missing him was too deep. I walked around in my field, looking for any other sources of life.
As I walked around, I felt the soft, yet scratchy material that hugged my body. It felt good to be back in my leaf-outfit. Vines circling my right arm, leaves covering the sacred parts of my body, The brand on my thigh, and the crown of leaves woven through my burgundy red locks of hair- traveling all the way down my waist.
I walked around, deeper into the field, closer to the forest that surrounded my field.
Suddenly, everything went dark. The once sunny day, slowly turned dark. I looked towards the sun and found that it looked like an eclipse was taking its place.
The decreasing amount of sun had shocked me. So I was definitely not expecting t hear the sound of wings and the horrible song of the raven's caw.
Then I felt the ground shake, I stumbled momentarily before regaining my balance.
I jumped when I heard the sound of a low chuckle behind me. I turned around so fast- if I was human, I probably would have gotten whiplash.
I gasped when I spotted the beautiful creature with big, black wings that radiated his confidence.
He had golden skin that seemed to glow. His hair was shoulder-length and as black as night. His face was gorgeous- chiseled but soft in all the right places. He had an orange-yellow color in his eyes.
He wore nothing but a pair of black pants that reminded me of the Arabian culture. Around is waist was the same material but in a grey color. He wore nothing on his feet either.
The most captivating thing about him, besides his eyes, were the cluster of black feathers on his wings that were darker than night. His wings were massive, but oh so beautiful and powerful.
"Welcome back my love." The mystery man addressed me.
"Who are you, I may ask?" I questioned.
"Is this how you greet your lovers?"
"How I greet my lovers is none of your concern. Who are you? And what do you want from me?"
"You will know of my name soon enough, dear. I want you to greet me like you do your lovers. Because, soon, I will be the only one there is."
"What are you talking about?"
"You will know when the time comes."
"Sei così irritante. Perché non dirmelo?" <You're so irritating. Why do you not tell me?>
"Be patient, la mia sposa of Darknes." <my Bride of Darkness.>
"Your bride?!" I yelled.
"Yes dear, you will be mine sooner than you think. When you see me in the human realm, you will recognize me instantly."
"What if I do not want to?"
"But you will. You are destined to be mine."
With that, I felt a heavy weight pushing me down. I fell into the comfort of the flowers surrounding me, falling into the darkness.
The only thought in my mind, was him.
Hades.
I closed my eyes and gave in to the peaceful darkness where my love would await me.
********
I woke up, gasping for breath. My chest rising and falling with every breath I took. My vision swam as I became dizzy. I closed my eyes tightly, trying to rid of the headache I felt coming my way.
When I started to feel better, I slowly opened my eyes to find myself in bed. I felt a heavy weight on my chest, looking down I found Lucas resting his head on my chest- both of his arms wrapped tightly around my waist.
My eyes filled with tears at the love this man radiated towards me. I was so lucky to have him. I didn't know what I did to deserve him either.
But I refuse to let him go.
I felt like I was in a novel. My life went from normal to the best selling paranormal romance in just a couple of hours.
But I wouldn't have it any other way.
I wouldn't have met Lucas, though I wish I could change the situation where we met. Goddess, how much I missed my parents.
At that moment, I realized that Persephone and I weren't all that different. I thought back to my old life. A life without Lucas, My best friends- Rachel and Alma. It was hard to see a life without them. Especially without my Aunt, she was the only blood-related family I had left.
I tried settling back down and going to sleep, but sleep would not come. I kept thinking about my nightmare/dream- whatever you want to call it. I don't remember what exactly my dream was about. Then I remembered the wings. Shivers erupted up and down my spine and my breathing quickened.
Lucas' head shot up and his eyes connected with mine. I instantly felt calm wash over me. "What's wrong?" Lucas asked.
"Just a nightmare. I'm okay." I said- my breathing finally steady.
"Want to talk about it?"
"I can't remember what it was about." I said truthfully.
"Okay. Go back to sleep, Amore." Lucas kissed my forehead and settled his head back on my chest, wrapping my tighter in his arms. I lay there, running my fingers through Lucas' hair as I fell asleep.
Knowing my love was there to protect me.
