***Lucas' P.O.V***
"You left her out there?!" I yelled at Merliene.
"I assure you she is fine." she said calmly.
"What if Ace is out there? His boss?! Abaddon?!"
Merliene opened her mouth as if he was going to speak. But it wasn't her voice I heard. "They wouldn't dare come here. This place is filled with magic that will conquer them. If they are smart, they would never come back."
I stopped. My frantic heartbeat beating faster at the sight of Brianne. Her voice- powerful and beautiful- captivated me. My eyes slowly traveled over her form. She was absolutely beautiful. Forgetting everyone around us, I walked to her and engulfed her in a hug.
"You scared me." I said and let my eyes trial over once again. She smiled and rolled her eyes. "Sei bello." I breathed out. <You are beautiful.>
I heard Merliene's sharp intake of breath and I looked at her questionably. "Are you okay?" Brianne asked her.
"You are her." she breathed out.
"Who? Merliene what's going on?" Merliene was confusing me. Who was she talking about?
"Persephone. You are the great goddess- Persephone."
*** A few minutes later ***
I stood in the meeting room, waiting for Brianne to walk in the doors and to help rid of all this confusion. I just hoped she put on less-revealing clothes. She looked great, she did. But I didn't like the way Mark looked at her. It took me everything not to punch him instead of pull her behind me.
Alma's voice brought me out of my head. "Hey, you alright? Whats with the look on your face?"
"What look?" I asked flatly.
"The look 'ready to kill'."
"Mark looking at what is not his."
"Oh, yea I was wondering what was happening there." she paused. "Where's Bri?"
"Changing."
"Do you think she could be Persephone?"
"Non ho dubbi. She is amazing." <I have no doubt.>
"Go get her. Maggie looks as if she's gonna blow up with worry." I nodded and walked off.
I left the room and ran up the stairs. I listened the shadows whisper to me as the played and passed by. I've always been able to hear and see the shadows that hid in the corners of the mansion. Or anywhere at that. They have been very distant since I found Brianne, having them back gave me a sense of peace. I ignored the whispers and stopped in front of our door.
Behind the door, I heard laughter. It was pure joy that made me smile. Her laugh was beautiful. Then I started to wonder what made her laugh like that.
"Hey, what's taking... so...long...,"I trailed off when I opened the door and found her.
Brianne was lying on the floor, laughing hysterically. A little fox jumping on her chest, trying to lick her face. I looked on our bed to find more, then looked back down at her. She grabbed the fur ball and looked at me lovingly.
"What's going on in here?" I chuckled and gestured to the foxes.
"I met them in the woods, then I came in here and found them."
"How'd they get in here?" I asked.
"No idea, but I'm glad they did. Ain't that right Stark?" she rubbed the babe's nose adoringly.
