Dirty Little Secret

Chapter 9

Liam dropped me off around midnight and I sneak inside my dorm room, trying to wake Maddie. Little did i know, Maddie wasn't in there. She's probably staying the night at Niall's. I had a lot of fun with Liam, I'm glad I met him. He actually made my ruined night fun. I eventually fall asleep to some boring movie on Netflix.

I awake to an obnoxious buzzing noise. I look up to see it was my phone; I was getting a call.

"Hello?"

"Hi Kat, it's Liam. Can I..uh..come over?" He sounds very lost, upset almost.

"Yeah, of course. Is everything alright?"

"Yeah..." I know he's lying but I stopped myself before I asked too many questions. 

He gave a soft knock on my door but it was already opened so he walked in. He looked really sad and distressed. His face was red and his lips were swollen. His eyes were extremely puffy and I could tell he's been crying.

"Liam, what's wrong?" It comes out a little more panicked than I expected.

"I broke up with Sam." I completely forgot he was dating her.

"Aw, I'm sorry." I'm not really sure how to respond.

"Don't be. I'm glad I did."

"If you're happy, then why are you crying?" He looked at me then laughed a little.

"I'm not really sure, actually. I guess it's because we've been together for so long and now it's all over. I just couldn't put up with her shit anymore, you know? Lou always made it a big deal she was dating me so she barely hung out with me anyways." He continued on to tell me all the mean things she's done to him.

"I can't believe I just told you all that." He lets out an awkward laugh.

"Same, but I'm glad you did."

"Really? Why?" A smile of relief sweeps his face.

"It means you trust me." I give him a light smile back.

He stays for a little while longer until Maddie comes to treat me for dinner. She brings her friend Katie along. I'm glad because I really need more friends. We head out and end up going to Olive Garden. They seat us and I start to get to know Katie. She's actually really nice and super pretty. She's pretty tan which makes her blue eyes and blonde hair stand out.

"So Kat, are there any men in your life?"

"Oh..not really.."

"She's seeing Harry, actually." Maddie speaks up.

"Oh my gosh, no way!"

"Well, kind of. I mean we've done it a few times but I wouldn't call that dating.." As soon as I close my mouth I realized what I just said. I hadn't told Maddie that I've had sex with Harry yet. This was not going to go over well.

"What! Kat!!!! You never told me that!!!!"

"I was going to, but..." I wasn't really sure where I was going with this. I really wasn't going to tell her. Not that I didn't trust her, it just didn't cross my mind.

"Wait, so are you guys dating?" Katie asked, she seems like the type to get easily confused.

"No..I mean, I don't know..I've been meaning to talk to him about it, but everytime I try, he changes the subject or blows me off."

"Well tomorrow, you march right up to him and give him a serious talk! I know I would never be okay with a guy who used me for sex."

Katie was right. I really needed to talk to him before things got out of hand. I made a promise to myself that I will at school.

I got to school earlier than normal. I was searching for Harry when I ran into Liam.

"Oh, hey Kat!"

"Hi Liam, sorry I can't really talk. I'm looking for someone."

"Oh, who? I can help you find them?"

"Harry."

"Oh..uh..he's, uh, he's over in the coffee shop." He seemed really confused as to why I was asking. I just ignored that and gave him a smile before I walked away.

I spotted him and started furiously walking towards the coffee shop so I could catch him. He was alone which was a good sign. He spotted me and gave me a warm smile and started walking towards me.

"Hey Kat, I, uh, I wanna apologize for Sam's party. I wasn't really aware of what I was saying...or doing for that matter." 

Harry was actually apologizing. This was a good sign.

"Listen, I kind of wanted to talk to you about something.. I-" He cut me off.

"Shit, sorry, I gotta go. I'll talk to you later."

And with that, he walked away.
