Chapter 8

We walked into Daryl's and found that we were the only ones there except for 2 couples at the same table. I said to Devon

"OMG that looks like my parents.."

"And that looks like mine.." his voice trailed off as we stared at each other...

We nonchalantly walked over to the couples and I politely asked

"Excuse me.."

They looked up and the lady exclaimed

"Emily!!"

"What? Mom?"

"Ems!hi baby girl!"

"Dad!!"

"Devon!!"

"Father!"

"Devon James!!" She sounded to excited over anything else

"Mom!!"

"So what are you doing here?" I asked my dad

"We were starving and we all decided to eat something before going home

"We all?" me and Devon asked in confusion

"Yah! us all! sweety, this is the Weatherbee's- Toby and Melissa. we met them on our trip and we talked and found out about Devon and you guys.. and technically now.." he paused and looked at them smiling "you can call them out best friends!" my mother finished. me and Devon gaped in pure amazement and broke into a laughing fit right there, they looked at us funny and we stumbled to the ordering counter. I got a chicken finger sub, a Dr.Pepper and fries and Devon got a salsa chicken wrap with a Sprite and a baked potato. we went and sat down with our parents and our food came.

"So, I hear you to have been staying with each other the last few days due to Emily's woods accident?" Toby said as he crammed Devon's fries into his mouth

"Yah." Devon replied without any hesitation

"Oh." said Melissa

We sat in silence for a while and sat and talked some more for about an hour before we left. my parents went home to check Sunny and Brandon and I went to Devon's house.

When we arrived I gasped at how small it looked on the outside with the biggest inside as possible! they had a 55'' TV with a wrap-around cream couch and a footstool and a fireplace. the other rooms were just as amazing.. we went upstairs to show me the bedrooms when all of a sudden a yellow-brown dog hopped onto me and knocked me down

"BOOTS!" Toby yelled and the dog got down

"Boots? that's a cool name" I said

"Thanks I picked it out!" Devon said he bent down and patted the dog and helped me up to continue the tour we looked at every room but one last one ad Toby and Melissa stopped and said

"Ok Devon there you go you can show her your room, we'll be downstairs." they started to walk away "oh and Devon.."

"What dad?"

"Come here" he motioned with his finger and whispered something in his ear. Devon said

"Yah yah dad of corse!"

And they were gone, Devon walked back to the door opened it and let me walk in. it was huge! there was a king sized bed with a LA Dodgers bed spread and a dresser with trophys and a huge walk in closet.

"Woah!" I exclaimed as I walked in more to reveal a flat-screen TV 22'' and an X-box with bean bag chairs.

"Spolied much?" I teased as he chuckled

"Just a little."

We sat down on the beanbag chairs and watched TV for 2 hours and he drove me home around 10. on the car ride home before I got out he gave me a note I went to open it but he stopped me and said

"Open it tomorrow night before school and read carefully.. tell

Me the next day.." he smiled and gave me a pat on the back and a high five and I got out of his car and went inside, up the stairs, to my room and went to bed.
