My Ride With Destiny

Chapter 14

I woke up with sore eyes and a wet pillow. And I remembered everything from yesterday. every part- the woods, the questions, the hesitations, the ums and uhs, and the reason my pillow was wet. I tried to remember back to that day I met Devon Weatherbee....

*FLASHBACK*

We approached the woods and Sunny flicked to the side. I looked around and saw nobody but a path of footprints that I figured were animals. I urged him on and soon enough we came to the bridge. strangely enough the winds picked up at that exact moment. And rustling of the leaves on the ground could be heard- almost as if something, or someone- were walking closely behind us. Sunny took off. I closed my eyes an tried the bridge again. And he reared up and I fell. down. Down. Down. Down the gorge. And at the exact moment I called for help, he, Devon James weatherbee, was right there.

*END OF FLASHBACK*

And it hit me! boom! Or I thought. I squinted my eyes really tightly and thought back to what the animal tracks looked like- small, pointed.... deer. Nevermind that. And the bridge I remembered turning around- no Devon. But where do he appear from? oh well, I have to ride Sunny today. No time to fool around. I got dressed in my old riding Faded Glory jeans, my Tractor Supply Co. sweatshirt and my riding boots. I slipped my phone into my pocket just to be safe from last time. I walked out to the barn when my phone rang. It was Haxton. I gladly answered.

"Hey" I cheerfully said.

"Sup girl?" he asked

"Not much you.?"

"Same same..."

"Ah."

"So what are you doing today?"

"Riding sunny into the woods. for real this time."

"Oh. Just wanted to tell you that I want you to be safe. dont hurt yourself again.." he faded off like he was gonna say more but decided against himself.

"Ok. Will do. got to go."

"By."

"By."

And we hung up. did he say that-? no. no way. Not me no how. I forgot the thought and tacked Sunny up and warmed him up in the arena. I texted dad I was going and headed down the road. Onto the highway. Down the Vansylkes passage to my uncles woods when I was stopped by no other than- Kyle. "Ughh" I muttered to myself very silently.

"Hey Kyle."

"Hey em."

"Sup."

"Not much. taking Suns here for a ride?"

"Yah." I smiled

"Have fun." he smiled back and took a step away from Sunny

"Will do. tell your mom I said hi."

"Ok. See ya." he slapped Sunny's read as I walked by and I headed down the path at a slow jog.

We headed up the hill at a gallop and at the top we took a breather and looked across the countryside and inhaled the view. I looked around and we sat there for 10 minutes just taking in the view. We headed into the woods and down the path- to the bridge. I eased him onto it and he went across like it was nothing. Silly horse. We continued down until we came to a fork in the path. The left is the long way through the woods while the right Is a shortcut kind of. It was almost december and it called for snow in the forecast later this week. hmmm. I pondered to myself- oh let's go left. We almost never went this way so it being unfamiliar to me- followed closely to the trail. We stopped by the Brook to drink and have a snack when we heard a terrible screeching sound. Sunny jumped as well as I. it was coming closer. And closer. It was right behind the trees that were no more than 10 yards away from us. horse and rider. I mounted Sunny and held a fork in my hand to somehow fight off the creature. Sunny side passed away from it. It screeched and hissed and came out from behind the tree. oh shit!! it was a rattlesnake. The deadliest of its kind. Not native around here- I wondered where it came from- Devon. He had a rattle snake when I came over. And he said they were looking for a home for it. I tried looking closely at its eye. For his only had one. And bingo. Devon had let his snake loose in my uncles woods. He was here. I could feel That at this moment he was here. Devon James weatherbee was trying to kill me.

AYE READERS!! long time no update huh? yah. That's what I thought so I updated it. So- what will happen to our poor Emily Hudson and Sunny ey? aha! wait and see! I was thinking (if all goes well) of a sequel to this book... Hmm.. Idk... Possibly. It might be to much though. Whateves. Maybe ill let you guys decide. Yah ill let my ghost readers (which are all of you btw) decide on wether I should make a sequel to the book when it's done Kk? How's that sound... Welp. Have a great day.
