12: YOU DON'T BELONG HERE

A/N: My exams are officially over! Official year 12 girl typing right here. So this is my after exam post.

I stare in shock as Alex continues playing. The melody is so beautiful and it brings back sweet memories. Grandad used to play it all the time, I miss him so much.

Wait, why is Alex here?

The music stops and two pairs of eyes turn to me.

Did I say that out loud?

"Yes you did"

Well that isn't embarrassing at all.

"Okay, so why are you here?"

"I'm staying here" Alex answers in a duh tone.

"What! Why?"

He raises an eyebrow "where did you expect me to stay?"

"Oh I don't know, maybe at the academy, where you've been staying all your life?" I say exasperated.

He stands up "nope, I'm staying right here"

We get into a staring contest. I never back down from a challenge, I'm as stubborn as a mule.

We stare at each other for seconds, then a smirk creeps on my face. After a second, he blinks.

"No fair, you cheated." He whines. "There were no rules " I say, sticking my tongue out at him, cause  I'm mature like that.

"Fine, next time I'll use my powers" he states smugly.

"In case you didn't get the memo, mine are superior" I retort.

"In case you didn't get the memo, I'm your teacher and you only know how to use two"

"In case you didn't get the memo, I'm a really fast learner."

"In case you didn't get the memo, you two aren't babies, so stop acting like them."

We both turn to grammy , I kinda forgot she was there. We both back down mumbling a sorry

"That's better, Max, he'll be staying in the room opposite yours."

"But" I start to say

"No buts, show him up."

With an exaggerated sigh, I turn and lead him up the stairs to the room directly opposite mine.

At the door, we turn to face each other

"You better take care of that room"

He looks at me, nods  solemnly and disappears behind the door.

He leaves for the academy before me, and after a much needed nap, I go there too.

I have my first fire lesson today and when I walk in, I instantly locate Blaze and Chase who wave me over.

"How's our favorite Maximum doing?" Chase asks with a smirk.

I roll my eyes. I am starting to warm up to them, they are actually really  fun.
