15: IF WE WORKED AT A STRIP CLUB

"Hey Tori, what are you doing here" I ask as I open the door to see Tori, holding shopping bags.

That's never a good sign.

She rolls her eyes" don't tell me you forgot "

I stare at her blankly, "forgot what?"

She sighs, " Jason's party"

My eyes widen, oh yeah.....

I shrug, "of course I didn't forget, but I thought it was later tonight"

She rolls her eyes again and walks in, "don't even bother cause I know you forgot and I'm here so we can get ready"

Then she turns to me to asses me, "you need at least three hours work" she says "have you been out running, you stink" she adds, wrinkling her nose.

I raise an eyebrow" wow bestie, thanks "

Her blue eyes widen in excitement, "hey! You finally learnt it" she refers to my raised eyebrow.

I shrug, I don't really want to talk about how I learnt it, or who taught me.

"So, she continues, where is that hunk of a human being" she asks excitedly. I roll my eyes, I told Tori that Alex is a childhood friend visiting and she has suddenly decided that he's a potential boyfriend.

I'll never understand how this girl's brain works.

"I don't know, I don't care" I reply nonchalantly, then grab her hand and lead her to my room.

She shoves me into the bathroom "take a long shower and stop smelling like a hobo, and I'll set up your outfit"

I roll my eyes, God knows how many times I do that with this girl, "whatever, but Tori for Christ sakes, something you know I'll wear"

She waves her hand dismissively, "yeah yeah, I know, no skirts, dresses or make up except mascara, I know, now go!"

I enter, strip and get under the shower. My mind wanders back to Alex and the things he said. It hurt way more than I let him see.

Believe it or not, in the short time I've known him, he actually means something to me. He had always been patient with me, even when I threw silly tantrums. Yeah sure, he is pretty mysterious and all, but he's never been like this and it hurts that I don't even know why.

Sighing, I get out and wrap my fluffy white towel around me as I step out to see what Tori had picked out for me.

My eyes widen in horror, "there is no way in hell I am wearing this"

Tori groans, "aww come on, this isn't against any of the rules"

I snort, "yeah if we worked at a strip club, those are not going anywhere near my body, where did you even get them?"

Tori flops dramatically on my bed, next to the clothes she picked out. Black short short shorts, a neon green crop top, so short, its practically a bra and a pair of Jordan's.

"Okay, the only things acceptable about this whole ensemble are the shoes" I state as I sit next to her.

She sits up, smiling, "I knew you'd love the shoes, besides I was just kidding, I think I know you better than that"

Then she reaches towards the bag and brings out a pair of high waisted black skinny ripped jeans, a cropped (just the right amount of crop) neon green sweater that hangs of one shoulder, plus the Jordan's.

I smile, staring at the outfit in delight " perfect"

2 and a half hours later, after primping and straightening, then curling and straightening again- I swear my hair has a mind of its own- we are finally done and ready for the party.

I smile at our reflections in the mirror, me in my outfit and Tori in a short pink dress and black heels. "We look smoking hot!" She squeals, I roll my eyes, not bothering to deny it.

After grabbing our essentials, Tori and I head downstairs. My stomach grumbles annoyingly so I decide to head into the kitchen for a quick snack.

A body blocks my path and I look up to see Alex, holding a soda can, something I'd like to point out I introduced him to. Neither of us says anything, he's 6'2 and am 5'6 so he's pretty much towering over me.

*scoff* like that matters.

"Hey" Tori chirps obliviously.

He smiles back obliviously, his eyes never leaving mine.

She finally senses something wrong, "um, we were on our way to a party, wanna come?"

He spares her a quick glance before his eyes flit back to mine, "no thank you"

"Aww come on, it'll be fun, everyone at school will be there and since you are already wildly popular, you'll have fun"

He shakes his head, "I'll pass"

"Are you sure, cause I think-"

"Victoria Laura McKinnon, he said he doesn't want to come" I say quietly, glaring at him, "so let's leave him alone, he's probably tired" I sneer.

I know, I know I'm being a tad immature, but at this point, I'm so mad, I don't care.

He winces slightly at my words and he's glare softens, making his eyes go all soft and alluring and beautiful and mesmerizing.

Jerk.

"You both look amazing, I'm sorry I can't come" he says, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.

Uh uh, you aren't getting out that easy.

"Trust me" I say, grabbing Tori's hand, "you won't be missed" wit that I storm out of the house pulling Tori along with me.

The drive to Jason's house is silent.

For the first five seconds.

"So that's why you've been acting all little miss cranky pants"

I turn to Tori, "what?'

She sighs, " you've been acting, distant, distracted, cranky and a little bit sad"

I huff and turn to stare out the window, "I have not" I declare.

"Yes you have" she insists, "what did you guys fight about?"

"Nothing"

She scoffs, "liar"

With a sigh, knowing I can't hide everything from her, I report the events of last night and this morning, removing academy stuff.

"Wait lemme get this straight" she chews her lip thoughtfully "he's mad at you cause you came to him in the middle of the night when the storm started?"

I nod, "yup, that's about it"

She frowns, "there's something else, something he's hiding, he looked upset"

I scoff, "that's what Katniss said"

"Who?"

"Nobody, the voice in my head"

Nice save Max, nice save.

She shakes her head, I'll never understand you"

I smile as I pinch her cheeks, "And that's why you love me"

I know I said it'd be the party, but the chapter would have been too long but next chapter, definitely.
