Salutations from the Grand Canyon!
~*~*~*~*~*~
"How do I get back?" I ask demandingly as I see Apollo, my father, and William gathered around a table outside the temple.
"Get back where?" William could tell I was visibly upset.
"Allura, it is not safe for you back there. Houston wants you dead." My father argues. I clenched my fist at my side trying to keep my emotions bottled. "It is safer if you remain here."
"You can't tell me what to do with my life." I spit back at him. "I'll find someone else to take me back there." I turn on my heel and I stalk off. I heard them talking as I tried to get away. My feet lead me to the flying ground.
The voices of the dragons flooded my head as I took a good long look at all the species and their riders. Some look like what I would expect dragon riders to look like but a small group of them look like desert nomads and their dragons are all larger than normal.
I felt like that was a good place to start when it came to finding answers. I approach the group of nomads as I tried to find something to say to make this not seem awkward.
They all bow before me as I approach and I wrinkle my nose trying in vain to hide my disgust.
"Please, do not do that." I say as they look at me. "I am just another dragon rider."
"No you are not." The leader of the group says as he watches me. "You are the one chosen by the Mother of All Dragons. It is our duty to serve and protect you." I contemplate what they are telling me.
"I want to know how to get back to Relaine." I reply and the leader laughs. "You said it is your duty to serve me and I want to go back." He offers me a sad smile.
"We cannot take you back Princess. You are not safe there." I frown bitterly. "We can train you and come back to the realm when you are ready but to send you back there without training will be suicide."
"Then train me." I reluctantly reply. "I'm a quick learner."
"Then you must know our names. My name is Marc, the leader of the nomadic clan." His green eyes seem to pierce my soul as I shake his tanned hand. "This is Hakim, Jordan, and Walter." Hakim seems especially interested in me.
"Let's see what you can do on a dragon." Walter motions to a large scaled tan dragon. The dragon eyes me with suspicion.
I do not trust you. The dragon tells me in a dusty voice. "That's a first." I reply in the same tongue. "Most dragons accept me without question." Us nomads are a different breed. "What will I have to do to gain your trust?"
"I wouldn't have said that." Walter tells me and I wince.
Blind fold her. Another dragon chuckles. My eyes go wide. I was not going to go on a foreign dragon's back blindfolded. But, I do need to get help from the nomads so I'll do anything.
"Blindfold me." I tell the nomads. I feel one of them put a scarf around my head and soon I'm enveloped in darkness. "What now?" I ask the dragon. Now you trust me. Come to me. I obeyed as I approach the dragon with all the trust I could muster.
You are doing great. Now mount. I climb onto his back. Let's see what you can handle. The dragon takes off and I refuse to hold on too tightly. Spread your arms and don't hold onto me. I spread my arms apart and I put my entire faith into the dragon.
"This is actually amazing." I tell him. We keep flying for several minutes. "Can i remove the blindfold now?" I ask. Go ahead. I remove it and I smile at the sky. "Would you catch me if I jump?" Do you trust me? I knew this was a loaded question so I jump like I did with Onyx Warrior.
The air around me sent shivers through my body but I felt amazing then the dragon catches me on his back. We spiral down until we're back on the ground. I bow to the dragon once I dismount and he bows back. I have earned his respect.
"Come back tomorrow morning." Marc tells me and I nod before running back to tell Emmett and Shadow.
