Chapter 20
*Sierra’s POV*
I looked at the three girls sitting around me. I had just finished strumming the final chords to Royals by Lorde. Definitely my favorite song the four of us had done, which by this point in the night, was about 10.
“Do you guys write lyrics?” Kelsey said suddenly. My ears immediately perked up. Kelsey and I wrote about five instrumentals a month, but not once have we ever been able to put lyrics to the music.
“Yea! Drue and I write a lot. But neither of us really play any instruments, so it’s hard to really make them into legitimate songs.” Kat said.
“Oh my god this couldn’t be more perfect.” I said.
Kat pulled out a worn leather book. There were little pieces of paper sticking out from all sides, and the spine of the book looked like it was about to break in half.
“Let’s write a song shall we ladies?” Drue said with a grin.

So it took us the rest of the night to finish the song, but when we did, holy crap was it good.
“I know I can’t see you tonight I know I can’t get it right. I know, I know.” Kat started the song, slowly sway back and forth to the rhythmic strumming of Kelsey’s guitar.
“I couldn’t do that to her, but now you’ll never see the true me.” Drue joined Kat with a low harmony to offset Kat’s higher voice.
They went to the chorus: “I, for some crazy reason, love you. And I, wait for the day for you to stay with me. Not with someone else, stay in my arms. It’ll always be you, it’s always been you.”
They sang the next verse, then the chorus again, then we went to the bridge.
“And it’s getting harder to stop staring; it’s getting harder not to look your way! So I’m just gonna say..”
The last chorus was quiet.
“I, for some crazy reason, love you… It’s always been you.”
We all stopped, and were silent for about 5 seconds, when Kelsey broke out saying, “OH MY GOD WE ROCK. WE JUST KICKED THAT SONG’S ASS!”
And we all agreed.
We all brought it in for a group hug.
“I seriously love you guys.” Kat said, and I could tell by the look in her eyes that she meant it.
Now, growing up for me, I did NOT like my sister. I was always jealous. She had this care free way of life. Perfect grades, perfect smile, and not one person on this earth honestly hated her. I was a cheerleader for a while, I had way too many dates to count. She was always telling me how she should be jealous. I would always be invited to parties, and she claimed that she lived in my shadow.
I hate to say it, but living in the spot light in our school sucks. At parties all kids did was have maybe one drink and act drunk of their ass. It’s ridiculous. I wish I could have been my sister.
But when Liam moved away, I don’t know what happened, but all of a sudden Kelsey and I were best friends. We would sit together every night X Factor was on, we started writing, and ever since we were practically inseparable.
But that also meant my ‘queen bee’ status plummeted. That doesn’t happen often.
I started getting bullied by my so called friends. Kels didn’t know that, but she was now my only friend.
But now, now I have Kat, and Drue and the boys. And I just know that I can be myself around them.
It’s a new start for me, and I am very happy about that.
