"So what if Royale was acting all feisty, she was defending her daddy from someone who is going to hurt you again."
I was on the phone with Julienne after yelling at Royale for Jake's sake and putting them both to bed, I thought I was doing the right thing but Julienne thought otherwise.
"Yeah but that's not my Royale Julienne, even though she's feisty and sometimes incredibly loud she doesn't do that to other people." I defended myself and Jake, "That's not how I'm raising her. And that's certainly not how I want her to be."
Julienne let out an annoyed groan from on the other end of the line, it was like he was sick and tired of hearing about my problems. "Do you hear yourself? You brought Justin back into your life after all the shit he pulled and you made your daughters get closer to their father. Now you want them to forget about him?" He paused, I guess he was waiting for my answer and when I didn't give him one he continued on with what he was saying, "That's quite funny actually, you just met this Jake guy and you're already taking his side. You should know where Yale is coming from."
Rolling my eyes I yet again defended Jake and I, "Rina was so kind toward him and he didn't do anything wrong"
"But you're their mother! No one told you to open your legs as fast as you did for Justin after all the shit he put you through! I don't know what you were thinking but that's not my Janice, she doesn't open her legs as soon as someone calls her 'baby girl' or 'princess'."
Julienne was right for some of it but to be honest he had no idea what I was going through, yes I jumped into bed much faster than what anyone could have expected but it was because I felt the love that I still have for him that day, we were alone with our kids in the kitchen doing things a normal family would do. It made us feel and look like a family. But when he betrayed me again I needed to move on, and when Mr. Officer came along I couldn't help but throw myself at him. I just want to be loved again by anyone. I don't want to be like those girls who get pregnant in high school and still to this day can't find their baby daddy.
"Julienne you don't understand." I choked, that's when I realised I was crying. I was crying over someone who didn't know and probably will never know the meaning of love.
"Then make me understand NiNi, get your ass back to work first thing tomorrow, make me my favourite African food for lunch and start talking." He ordered and I smiled, he always knew how to make me smile.
"Okay Jules."
"Okay?"
"Okay."
And he hung up. Julienne had actually knocked some sense into me, but that wasn't going to stop me from seeing Jake again. I really had hope that this time he was going to be the one for me, he was great with the kids-With Rina and he just screamed boyfriend material. And I'm pretty sure we have a connection, chemistry, fireworks. All of that. He was just perfect.
And right on Que. My phone rings with the familiar 'grass aint greener' ringtone that I've been hearing ever since I left Justin's house, looking at my phone I check the caller idea and immediately my face lit up. It was my brother, and although I was still mad that he slept with Chanel I couldn't hold a grudge with my family members because you never know how long you have to spend with them, every day should be treated special.
"Deshaun!" I sang into the phone, I could imagine him holding his ear on the other end of the line. "How's my favourite brother?"
"I'm your only brother."
"Exactly." I heard him chuckle and I smiled, I loved when he was happy. Something exciting must be happening.
"So I'm calling a family meeting on Saturday." He said, "I might have some news that you'd like to hear...I think."
"ooo" I clapped my hands together with excitement, "I can't wait! Saturday's only two days away!"
Laughing, or what I hoped was a laugh sounded from the other end of the line. Deshaun had a really deep voice so whenever he laughed it sounded different? "How's my two favourite nieces by the way?"
Twirling my curls around my finger I sighed, "sleeping."
"Something you want to tell me?"
"How did you-ugh." I laid against my headboard, "I'll explain everything on Saturday, okay?"
It was quiet for a few seconds, "Okay, but if anyone hurt you or even tried to hurt you, I'm coming at them with razor blades and lemon juice. You understand?"
I gulped; my brother was always protective of me. "Understood."
"I have to let you go now Ni, don't forget to come on Saturday alright?"
I nodded but realised he couldn't see me, "oh wait!"
"Yes?"
"Can I bring Jules?"
Deshaun loved Jules, they were inseparable, and they were basically my brothers. "Jules is family. And I can't wait to see his punk ass."
I laughed and we said our goodnights before hanging up.

The next was basically like any other day, I got the girls dressed, they had their naps or played with their toys while I made breakfast, we got into the car and I drove them off at school, had the normal chat with Margaret and went to work.
There were no words exchanged with the girls and I, they were ignoring me which made me highly uncomfortable considering that I only scolded one of them. But they had this thing that they always did whenever one of them got into trouble; they would always back each other up and whenever the other one wasn't talking it meant that they both weren't talking to me.
Jake has been trying to reach me but I always missed his calls because well, I had two kids mad at me, their mother. A brother who has a surprise waiting on Saturday and a best friend that is dying to hear about my many problems. Oh and I can't forget my boyfriend who I haven't heard from after that day.
"Welcome back Janice, great to see your face again." Cara was typing away on her computer; she didn't even bother to look up while talking to me which made me smile, she was always so busy, "Oh before you leave..." She looked up and smiled showing off her dimples, "You have a total of 10 clients today, there's a specific client coming in today something to do with a house that you assigned to them."
Trying to remember I raised a manicured nail to my face, "Did they give a name? A number that I can call?"
She looked down at her files and handed me a brown folder with all my clients' information and deadlines in it.
"Anything?" Not even a birthday?" I pushed further. It was important that I knew who ever I was going to be dealing with, some people never left their name and personal information because of either debt or they didn't have the best credit history.
"Sorry Janice, you just have to wait and see on this one."
Nodding I walked away and into my personal office which I have to admit, I missed it. The vanilla candles and the light escaping the blinds, it felt like home to me.
"Knock. Knock."
Julienne strutted in and sat in front of me, I didn't mind because I still had about 30 minutes before my first client got here. "Hello Julienne, what can I do for you this morning?"
"You know why I'm here. Stop playing dumb and get to talking." He clasped his hands together and waited.
"Couldn't you wait for lunch? You're that eager to hear about me? I'm flattered."
Rolling his eyes he said, "Okay bubble butt come on and spill, I gots to hear! You don't want me going all ratchet up in here do you?"
Nooo, no one liked ratchet julienne. Not even our boss.
"Okay, this might take a while."
A/N: Hope you liked it, btw Chanel's going to show up soon...and it has something to do with Deshaun
