(Hi guys! It's been some years since I've been active and I totally know that! I see some of you have been actively still reading my stories, especially this one and I want to thank you! As a thank you I want to let you know I am actively working on rewriting this as I've grown as a writer and as a person! Please note it probably won't be as accurate to the story as before because it's been years since I've seen ninja turtles, but I promise to do my best to bring you guys a great story! 12/2/2023)

(NEW 2024 RENDITION)
Today starts as a brand-new day in the great NYC. Sitting up in bed Amarie looks around her cramped, shared room and sighs. She's exhausted and worn out from the previous day. Not only is she a full-time high-school student, but she also participates in extracurricular activities and has a 'lovely' part-time job as a barista at Starbucks. Although her hours are next to none, on the days she does work she feels worn out. "Ronnie..." She calls out. 'Wake up..." She's not causing an effect as she is practically whispering due to being so groggy. She wipes her eyes and stretches. "Ronnie!" She throws her pillow across the room and hits her cousin on the head. "Wake up!" That did it; her cousin was now awake. "Whyyy! I hate you!" Veronica, or Ronnie as Amarie calls her, was annoyed. "Why are you waking me up so early?" Amarie checks the clock and looks back up to her cousin, "It is 11:53 AM. Early my ass." She stands up and begins to make her bed. "Get up or we will be late to class." The class Amarie is referring to happens to be a self-defense course her aunt signed them up for. All the muggings and uptake in crime in the area has her on edge and she wants her "girls to be safe and prepared for the world." Amarie starts changing her clothes into activewear and exits the room awaiting her cousin's departure. Her aunt had already left for the day and was at work but left fresh muffins on the table for the girls. Finally exiting the room Veronica states she is ready to leave. "Did you brush your teeth nasty? I can smell your halitosis from here." Veronica sticks her tongue out at Amarie and goes to the bathroom to do so before finally meeting her cousin at the front door, muffin, jacket in hand, ready to leave.
"Good afternoon, ladies!" Their sensei greets them as they enter the door. "Good afternoon, Sensei." The girls speak in unison as they take off their winter wear. It being 40 degrees outside really does cause for a good bundling up. "Are you ready for today's lesson?" they nod, "As ready as I ever can be I guess," Amarie speaks begrudgingly, she is not one for jiujitsu. She finds herself stumbling on her feet more often than landing on them. Her clumsiness continuously gets the best of her. She finds that kickboxing is more her speed. "Amarie!" The sensei calls her over. "I would like to finally test your skills against a taller opponent. I have been letting you spar against someone of a comparable size, but why don't we advance it a bit more?" Her eyes widened at those words. "Oh no thank you!" Shaking her head and making a face she politely declines, "Oh, it was not a question. You will spar against Veronica." Ronnie chuckles, "Nooo, please she is not going to take it easy on me at all!" The Sensei smiles, "You have to learn somehow." Ronnie gets into her fighting stance and waves her hand for Amarie to make the first move. Amarie advances and it does not go well for her. Her small petite stature does not hold up well against Ronnie's 5'6 stature. However, this is exactly what she was put in the class for. Self-defense against people who are larger than her. "Good job Ronnie, and excellent job to you too Amarie. You have a long way to go through." Sensei claps for the girls. After two grueling hours of practice, the two cousins are finally complete with training for the weekend and are set to go home. The time is now 3:45 PM and the girls decide to go out to an early dinner. Nothing too expensive of course, as they are just two teenagers who do not have much money, but something respectable of course because they are not heathens. "Ah... Mcdonalds... My favorite." Ronnie chuckles at Amarie's remark, "This is your idea of a lovely dinner?" Amarie waves her finger at her, "Hey now, do not diss a McChicken with cheese and bacon with a Dr. Pepper on the side." Ronnie's stomach growls, "Fair enough." The two enter the building to grab their sustenance and sit to eat. They sit for a couple of hours chatting and talking undenounced to the time and the sun beginning to set earlier than usual. "We really should be heading out now, it's getting kind of dark." The older of the two girls speaks, Ronnie. "You're right." Amarie agrees. The girls get up, clean their mess, and exit the building.
