I am awoken from a beautiful dreamless sleep when Mum shakes my leg. I glance at my alarm clock. 8 AM!. Damn. I intended to sleep until atleast 1. 'Carmela come on. We've got a lot to do today' She says. I groan and get up, throwing on a red tank with a white heart on it, white fringe shorts and red and white thongs. We walk for ages and reach at town next to the one we're staying at. The streets are crowded with stalls selling everything from fruit and vegetables to dreamcatchers. Mum wanders off a stall selling lotions and creams. I scan the clothes stalls and buy black pumps, a white belt studded with tiny rhinestones,  a gorgeous red strapless dress I picked up for Cassia, a deep midnight blue dress with tiny white stars and a crescent moon one one side that I love and several T-shirts all for €5.00. I buy several bottles of scented shower gels on offer and a couple of bars of soap. I spy Mum trying perfume and I wander over getting bottles of jasmine, rose and lavender scent. I pick up seasons 3-8 of Friends, my all time favourite programme on the planet and get a couple of chunky amber bracelets. Then lastly I stop at the stationery and but nearly the whole stall. Mum and me stop for a break at a quaint little coffee shop, sipping lattes and chatting. Mum picked up vanilla bubble bath, several jumpers for Dad and my grandpa, jade green bracelets and a book she says she's been waiting to read. It feels nice to sit with my mum, drink coffee and talk about anything and everything. We return to the hotel and Dad is in the bar, drinking a pint and reading the newspaper. Mum goes to join him, ordering white wine a first ever for her because she always told me she troes to never drink alcohol in public. I follow and Dad insists I have a proper glass of wine. I sip the liquid, disliking the taste but loving the effect. My fears uncurl and fade away, leaving me happy and carefree. We sit there for hours, laughing and playing cards, nibbling fruit cake and scolding Dad as he tries to cheat at Go Fish. For the first time in a while I feel truly happy. That is until I return to my room, getting the key card from my bag and going to unlock the door. 'Carmela' His voice calls and I freeze, turning and looking at him with disgust. 'Never talk to me again' I say and unlock the door, shutting it with force in his face. I fall into bed, weary and fall asleep as soon as my head hits the soft pillow.
