Chapter 6

" Here Melody you can lick the spoon. " I say handing her the batter caked spoon. Connor looks disappointed but I just tell him he can lick the bowl later. 

I said I was going to make cupcakes when I got back and I'm a woman of my word. Little do these boys know, I am an amazing cupcake maker. I used to work at a bakery in the local supermarket but the manager hated me and so I got fired pretty quickly. 

" So what's the word between Riley and Ell ? I heard you went to the park and all the best gossip is there. " I overhear Connor ask Melody. She giggled and motions for him to come closer with her little fingers. 

" She's in denial. And Riley's too chicken to tell her. " She said and Connor fakes a surprised gasp. He even goes as far as to do that little thing where you cover you mouth with your hand. I can't help but laugh as I turn around. 

" Now who taught you all of that ? Connor ? " I ask still laughing. 

" Mooooom ! I'm a big girl now. I know these things. " She said defensively. Well as defensively as a six year old can be anyways. 

" Connor you've been helping her read teenage gossip magazines again, haven't you ? " I ask pointing the whisk I was holding at him accusingly.

" Maybe. I can't help it she wants to hear what's going on with Selena these days ! She practically begs me to ,and how am I supposed reject her adorable little face ? " He said as if it was an excuse and could be considered as valid argumentation. I just roll my eyes. I guess it couldn't be all that bad could it ? 

" So since you decided to get in the middle of my love life. Have you asked Carson out yet ? (A/N Remember the babysitter for Toby ? See now she's got a valid purpose ;D ) " I ask and he practically spits milk across his kitchen. 

" What ?! But how did you ? " He asks surprised and a bit embarrassed. 

" Yeah you were that obvious to everyone but her dude. I could've told you she's spacey. " 

" So she's an airhead ? " He asked disappointedly and I burst into laughter. 

" Not even ! She's probably two or three times smarter than I am ! She may be oblivious to some things but she is definitely not an airheaded blonde ! " I say trying not to laugh in his face again. 

" Well I'll ask her out when you admit you like Riley ! " Is his reply. Sadly it gets the reaction he wanted from me though because I freeze. 

" What did you just say ? " I ask shocked. I don't know why I'm still so surprised when they say something like that. They practically say things like that once every five minutes if not more. 

" You heard me. I'm not blind woman I see you like him. The only person that doesn't know is him ,but he's totally crushing on you too. " He said and I swear Connor is the big brother I never wanted. I mean seriously I get him picking on Riley he's his actual brother ,but why me ? What did I do to deserve this ? 

" Whatever. I don't believe a word you say anymore Patrick. You're always trying to fill my brain with senseless bull crap. " I said with an accomplished smirk.

" Oh you want to play that way huh ? Okay then Rosie. " He said with a devilish grin. Oh shit. I might have just started an all out war here.

" Hey Melody go find Riley and have him help you clean up okay ? The cupcakes will be ready soon. " I said quickly. I don't know what's going to be said but whatever it is she doesn't need to witness it. That much I'm sure of. 

" Okie ! " She said jumping off of the counter. Yes she was sitting on the counter. I mean if you were short and wanted to see what was going on you would have been up there too.
