Chapter 8

" Hey before Melody knows I'm here I do need to tell you something else. " Riley said stopping me halfway up the stairs. 

" Okay shoot. " I say a little worried. 

" So I did come here to see you. But management made me agree to make an appearance at the new Disney movie. You know Frozen I think was the name of it. Well I was wondering if maybe you would be my date to it tonight. I mean if you don't have other plans. " He said awkwardly. Lucky for him it was a cute kind of awkward. 

" That sounds amazing ! I would love to get out of here for a night  ,ever since you left I haven't gotten to leave at all. I've been so busy trying to keep the house together and watching Melody. Oh but I have to wear a dress to this premiere thing don't I ? " I ask cringing.

" Yeah sorta. It's like an unwritten rule. " He said chuckling. 

" But I don't even own a dress. What am I- Hey wait maybe I can call Carson and she can take me emergency shopping ! Would you want to watch Melody while we're gone though because if not I could totally find somebody else to do it and- " 

" Ella calm down. I'd love to watch her. " He said looking at me reassuringly. 

" I was rambling again wasn't I ? " 

" Yes, yes you were. Hey random question here. Why is Mel's room upstairs when yours is in the basement ? " He asked a little confused as he started back up the stairs. 

" Well 2 reasons. First, she got one of the many many guest rooms my parents have here. Second, this way I get to leave the basement sometimes and not be a little hermit lady. " I say making little crab claw motions with my hands as he laughs. 

We get to the door and I motioned for him to be quiet for a minute. He nods and smiles brightly. I know he really has missed Melody while he's been gone ,so I bet he's pretty excited to be able to spend the rest of the day with her.

" Hey Mel somebody's here to see you. " I say peeking through a crack in the door. 

" Unless it's daddy I don't wanna see them. " She said pouting. 

" That was the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life. " I whisper to Riley who's trying his best not to cry. I nod and motion for him to go on in and talk to her and he doesn't wait a second longer.

" Well then I'm glad you're not busy taking care of Elley to forget about me. " He said walking in and before he could blink Mel was in his arms giving him a tight hug. 

" Daddy ! " She shouted and I don't stop her. If my dad would've cared about me enough to do something like this I would've done the same thing. Hence the word if he cared. Which he didn't. 

" You're stuck with me today while Elley goes to the store with her friend. I hope you don't mind too much. " He said and she squealed with joy. I haven't seen her this happy since they left. 

" Well I better go call Carson. " I say walking into the hall and pushing her speed dial number. 

" Hey ! Pleaseee tell me you're not busy today. " I beg through the phone. 

" Nope today I took a me day. Why what's up ? " She asked. 

" Well... Riley want s me to go to this movie premiere thing tonight and- " 

" Oh my gosh ! He's taking you out in public ? Yay ! I'll be over in five minutes we're going shopping and you're wearing a dress damnit ! " She gushed before she hung up. 

" Well that didn't take long. " Riley said laughing. 

" Yeah all I said is you were taking me and she said she'd be here in five to go shopping. " I said sighing.
