Accidentally Overheard ( A Before You Exit / Riley McDonough Fanfiction )

Chapter 12

It's been nearly a week since the hospital decided to release me. I apparently had some sort of head trauma so I couldn't leave for a few days. Let's just say those days were... interesting.

Riley didn't talk to me much and I wasn't the only one who noticed. Everyone kept asking me if something happened but I never told them of that day we kissed. I didn't want him to have to answer for it and to be honest I tried to forget about it. He obviously didn't mean for it to happen in the first place so why dwell on it ?

I wish it was easier to forget that moment though, but it's no use trying anymore, the more I try to forget it the more I end up thinking about it. I can't forget no matter how hard I try and now I'm sitting at home watching Peter Pan with the boys thinking about it once again. I'm not even watching the movie anymore.

" Okay Elle Spill it. " Connor said pausing the movie slightly aggravated.

" Spill what ? " I say blankly.

" Spill whatever happened in the hospital that made you so... so not yourself. " He said turning to face me.

" I don't know what you're talking about. " I say acting like I'm fine like I always do.

" Cut the crap we all know something happened. You're not yourself Ella and we're all really worried about you. You're so unhappy now. What happened to the old Elle ? " Connor said and Toby gave a nod of agreement. As usually though Riley said nothing. He had that same stupid look on his face like he didn't know what was going on but knowing Riley he always knew what was going on ,and that  blank act made me angrier than ever.

" That Elle's gone okay ! Life goes on and people change what's so unusual about that ?! " I practically scream at them. Luckily Mel's over with Mrs. McDonough right now...

" What's wrong is we know you Elle. We know you wouldn't have changed this dramatically without something happening so I'll ask you again. What happened ? " Connor said anger and concern clear in his voice.

" You wanna know what happened ? Somebody kissed me then they apologized for it. I clearly was just a mistake they wish they'd never made and I can't blame them. I realized I never meant anything to them that I was just some pawn in their game. So yeah you're right something did happen and I did change. Are you happy now ? You got exactly what you wanted. " I said my voice becoming small before it cracks at the end as I fought back the tears.

Everyone stared at me with pity and sorrow in their eyes everyone except Riley. He was the only one who knew what I was talking about and even he pitied me. But he also had regret printed on every inch of his face. I didn't want him to regret what he did though and I sure as hell don't want this pity party they're throwing for me.

" Elle I'm so sorry. I didn't- "

" You didn't know. Of course you didn't know I've been keeping it a secret because I didn't want anybody to find out. But I'm not some little girl that wants the world to pity her. Especially not her friends. " I said getting up and walking towards the stairs but was stopped when someone grabbed my arm and spun me back.

I crashed into them before I felt a familiar pair of lips collide into mine and I was shocked. There Riley was doing the exact same thing as before, and there I was giving in just like before. I pull back and everyone's shocked but none as much as Riley. 

" Why do you keep doing that ?! " I scream frustrated and confused. 

" Doing what ? " He asks confused himself. 

" One minute you kiss me, then you apologize ,and then you do it again ! Mistakes only happen once now you're just leading me on. " And I'm the fool who's falling for it...

" I apologized last time because I felt bad for coming on to you like that. Ella I love you. " He said pulling me close to him. 

" You... You do ? " I asked sadly. 

" Yes I really do. I've loved you since the moment I saw you. From the first time I heard you sing. From when we went to Mrs. W's and you got Melody. And I'll love you till my last breath. I said it once and I'll say it again. Ella Rose Valentine, I love you. " He said and I began to lightly cry before crashing my lips back into his. 

" I love you too. " I said when we had broken apart.

" What. When. Huh ? " Connor said dumbfounded. I giggled and looked at Riley. 

" You wanna tell em or you want me to ? " I asked him with a huge smile. 

" How about both of us tell them. " He suggested and we made our way back to the couch together.

* A while later * 

" Awww ! That's adorable ! " Toby gushed and I couldn't help but laugh. 

" Better go punch a wall Toby. Your inner girl is starting to show. " I said giggling to myself. Darn you Riley and turning me soft... 

" You're so cute when you giggle. " Riley said kissing my nose. 

" I know. " I said cheekily. 

" Just one thing. " Connor said seriously and we all looked at him curiously. 

" When you have little baby Ella and Riley Jr.'s I'm not responsible for anything Toby teaches them. " He said in all seriousness as we all burst out laughing. 

" Noted. " Riley said with a goofy grin. 

" So does that mean you guys are an official couple ? " Toby asked. 

" What do you say Ella ? Would you like to officially be my girlfriend ? " Riley asked with a smile. 

I pretended to think about it for a minute stroking my imaginary beard. " Hmmmm. No. " I answered seriously and they all looked at me shocked. 

" I would love to ! "  I shouted after a minute and everyone laughed before Riley lightly kissed me. Suddenly there was a camera clicking sound and we broke apart to see Toby grinning evilly while typing on his phone. 

" What are you doing now ? " I asked worriedly. 

" You'll see. " He said before setting his phone down and Riley and mine beeped. 

" Toby ! You put us on twitter ?! " Riley shouted and I couldn't help but laugh. 

" Yep. I wanted to be the first to leak the news. Now I know why paparazzi love to spoil these things. " He said feeling successful and we all laughed. 

" At least it's a cute picture. " I said smiling up at Riley. 

" Only because you're in it. " He said before he kissed me again. 

A/N: So this is the last official chapter... I'm going to cry my story's all grown up ! *Wipes away tear* I'll probably put up the epilogue either tomorrow for Christmas or a few days later but then I'll officially be able to click the finished button... Well that's a bitter sweet moment to come... I hope you guys enjoy it even though it's a little short. But they finally got together !!! Yay ! Bye guys and Merry Christmas Eve ! 

P.S. It's past midnight where I live so therefore it's officially Christmas Eve here. Just wanted to clarify there hahaha.
