A Friend Returns

As I showed Kate how to field strip the firearms that the council had been so gracious to provide, I heard rustling in the brush at first I thought it was a council guard when I saw the figure come out of the brush I already had my HK USP Compact pointed at it until I saw the figures face, it was Kiro!!!!!! Holding his hand to his side where blood was steadily flowing out, he collapsed. I ignored the pain in my throbbing ribs and helped the werewolf alpha up and yelled "Kate get the surgery kit!!!!!!!!" I saw Kate running with the kit in her hand, I grabbed it and said "Get something to put on the ground." she ran to the SUV and grabbed a blanket, then layed it on the ground I put Kiro on there and said "Don't worry we aren't gonna lose you again." I opened up the pelt that covered his wound, I'm still surprised he took several shots from that Desert Eagle I said "You won't heal unless they're removed." he nodded and said "Do what you must, so that I may return the favor." with a smile on his face. First I had to sterilize the wound I grabbed some alcohol from the kit, poured it on a piece of cotton and said "Kate hold here." she did as I said and as I saw him in pain I knew he'd lost a lot of blood, I put on rubber surgical gloves to lessen the chances of infection, then I said "This'll hurt a lot." as I heated my knife with a lighter I carried to sterilize it, then I pushed out the heavy slugs from my agonized friend. He said "If I knew it would hurt that much I would've done it." then finally passed out. I cleaned the wound and patched up the tightly grouped holes in his side with several Gauze pads. I looked at Kate and said "Thanks for helping Kiro." she smiled and said "He helped us, its only right that we do the same." I smiled back and said "Another reason why I love you." I took off the bloody gloves and kissed her thinking (If Kiro makes it you might really have a chance) I pulled away and gave her my 1911 and said "Keep this and please don't let them take you." she looked at me with questioning eyes and nodded I looked deep into her eyes and saw the little girl I fell in love with years ago I started to cry as I said "I'm so sorry I brought you into this." she smiled holding back tears and said "You have nothing to be sorry about, this wasn't just your choice remember? I love you too, and with that means putting up with all the shit in your life." I smiled and laughed, the she smiled and laughed. I hoped she'd always be safe but I knew I wouldn't always be around to protect her. Then everything slowed down and I thought (not again) as I heard the ancient primal voice say "Well done, your learning quite well."
