August, 29th

The Monday, first day of a new term came quickly for the three new dormmates in No. 53 of Avarice Academy. The dew had settled on the freshly mown from the humid the night and the cold air was chilling to every student as they walked briskly through the biting cold.

Every remaining student had arrived the previous day, giving friends a day to catch up again after the summer before they started school the next day.

As I said, the air was cold, especially cold to the girl with shoulder length black hair who had forgotten to bring a coat, who was obviously oblivious to Ireland's constant terrible weather.

Perry handed her his scarf, wrapping it around her neck securely. "You're going to get a cold, Robin. Leave the scarf on you for Gods sake," She swatted away his hands and made an undignified sound, grumbling under breath about 'certain over-bearing twins.'

They had just departured from the West Tower and were walking along through the garden paths to the centre building, which was where there classes were held, aswell as where the newly-re-opened cafeteria was.

"Robin!" Bill jogged up from further down the gravel footpath. When his feet fell in step between the two of them he slowed down slightly, as he slyly turned to Robin, "So, sweetheart. How 'bout you and I skip first period and make out behind that old opal tree?"

He gesured with his left hand while he wiggled his eyebrows at her suggestively.

Robin scoffed and shrugged off his arm that had made its way around her shoulder at some point.

"No thanks, Prince charming. I think I'll take a rain check, you have morning breath. Gross."

"So we can do it once I brush my teeth?" He walked backwards still keeping eye contact with her. Robin rolled her eyes.

"I didn't hear a no, did you, Perry?" He cocked his head at an amused Perry. Perry smirked and glanced at his sister and shrugged his shoulders, tapping the crown of his head as if something had slipped his mind suddenly.

"You know what? I don't think I did." They both grinned at her growing temper inflaming her cheeks.

They burst laughing when she stopped abruptly and stomped her foot, her arms crossing over her chest defensively. The boys didn't notice the hurt expression on her face when she realised they were only teasing her, they were too busy taking turns imitating her, then reliving the hilarity of the look on her face.

"Whatever. See you at lunch, losers." She passed them out and hurriedly walked ahead to her first class.

•••

Robin stormed past other students as they too, were making their way towards class. As she got lost in her thoughts more and more everytime her black Mary Janes hit the gravel and stones, she didn't see that her path was obstructed and proceeded to walk into a face first collision.

She reached out to stop herself from falling unaware of her surroundings. A hand grabbed hers and steadied her on her feet.

"I'm so sorry! Here, let me help you!" Someone ushered as her world slowly stopped spinning. Her eyes focused and infront of her was a girl with light brown hair, towering over her. The girl's face was soft and apologetic.

"Sorry for literally running into you. I'm Robin, you?" Robin smiled kindly at the girl, clutching her books closer to her chest for warmth.

"Kristine, but everyone just calls me Kris." The girl replied, "Here, let's get out if the cold, you must be freezing."

The two girls talked about their classes on their way through the archaic building and up a flight of stairs. Robin discovered that Kristine was in her third year of the school, leaving only two years of an age difference between them.

They turned around a corner and Kris turned to Robin stating, "This is my class here," Pointing at a door along the corridor further down,"Hope to see you around, Robin!"

"You too, Kris!" Robin replied heading towards the stairs to go to the English classroom on a higher level again.

Her mood had brightened considerably, as she was happy that she had made atleast one new friend on her first day. She tried to convince herself, that Bill didn't count because he was Perry's friend who just liked to annoy her.

She had a few minutes to spare as she explored the surrounding areas of the classroom. The professor was in there but since class hadn't technically started yet, she thought it unwise to annoy them as a first impression.

Robin successfully dodged Perry and Bill's advances throughout the day, still exasperated with them for toying with her like that. Maybe she was holding a grudge, but like she said to herself, it was retribution.

Sometimes even her twin pissed her off and crossed the line.

She breathed a sigh of relief when the long day was over and she had made it back to the apartment without running into anyone, desperately needing some alone time to herself.

But while Robin looked around the living area she realised she had spoken too soon as she spotted someone on the couch.
