"Anne? What's wrong? Why do you need my help?" Lin asked.
"I don't know what to do. My aunt is a drunk/druggy and she beats me. I don't get food often and I just don't know what to do. I don't want to live like this anymore. I miss you guys," I cried.
"How about you call your social worker from the states and tell her. Then have her contact their authorities or something. After you do that call me back and I'll stay on the phone with you. How does that sound," He said soothingly.
"Yea that sounds good I'll do that," I replied.
Right when I ended the call with Lin I dialed up Jessie, my social worker, and waited for her to answer. She answered quickly and then I told her everything that was happening. I explained the beatings, her drug/alcohol abuse, and the horrible living conditions. When I finished explaining she gasped and said she would call Italy's version of CPS right away and arrange for me to get a flight back to America. We hung up and then I called Lin back. We didn't talk about anything particular we just talked. He was trying to keep me calm and try and make me happy.
"So hopefully you can be back here for Halloween! We have this cool party set up and I bet you would love it," he exclaimed happily.
"Yeah I do love a good Halloween party," I chuckled then I heard a knock at the front door.
I went silent to hear everything unfold downstairs. My aunt opened the door and I heard the sounds of them arresting her. Then I heard shouting along the lines of where is the girl and my aunt shouted upstairs. I heard foot steps coming up the stairs and a knock on my door. Lin said my name and asked what was happening and I told him I would call him back and hung up my phone. I quickly got up and went to my door.
"Hey. We're here to get you out of this house and hopefully get you back to a good home," the officer said.
I grabbed my bags, that I never actually unpacked, and said lets go. He chuckled a bit at my eagerness to leave. You see I never actually unpacked at all because I could tell this wouldn't last long and I didn't want to unpack because this wasn't my home and it never would be. There was one other cop and he had my aunt in cuffs. As we walked past her she shouted horrible things at me but the cop made her be quiet. There were luckily 2 cars, one for me and a cop to ride in while my aunt was with the other cop.
Once I got in the car with the cop he took off and we ended up going to a beige building which I had never seen before. Turns out it was their version of CPS. They told me I was just there until they could arrange flights to get me back to America. I was also fed there because they could tell I was very underweight. Though luckily it didn't take long to get me flights because after about 2 hours I was on my way to the airport to head back to America.
The flights weren't that bad and the time seemed to go quickly. It was much different then on the way there. On the way to Italy I was sad and I didn't want to be there. But now I'm on my way to my real home with the people who really loved me. I couldn't wait to land so I could finally see them again. There were quite a few stops and layovers so I didn't actually get to New York until the next day. Or two days. I'm actually not sure, time zones always mess me up. When I landed I saw Jessie waiting at baggage claim.
"Oh my gosh I'm so glad to see you! I'm so sorry that happened to you next time we will be much more thorough. Lordy, look at how small you are! We have to get you some food stat," Jessie rambled.
"I missed you too Jessie," I laughed as I hugged her.
I was so glad to be back in America and I was ready to be back in my home as well. We took a while at the baggage claim because I did have a decent amount of bags and of course they couldn't be grouped together. Once we finally finished at the baggage claim we got into the car that would be taking me back home. I was so giddy with excitement I couldn't even sit still. Jessie had to look over and ask me to stop moving and even then it was hard. We finally got there and I quickly gathered all of my stuff and got up to their door as fast as I could. Jessie was far behind me but of course I had to wait for her. As soon as she was next to me I knocked on their door. Of course before they could open it I had a bunch of questions run through my mind. What if they didn't want me, what if they send me back, what if I have to go to a new foster home? Before I could keep thinking of horrible scenerios the door opened and I was immediately crushed in a big hug by two pairs of arms.
"We missed you so much. You are never allowed to leave us again."
"I would never dream of it."
Hello! I hope you guys liked it! She's finally back home. What do you think will happen to her next? Will it be good or bad? You'll just have to wait and see ;) Anywho bye! XOXO
