I stepped away from Joe. He nodded silently, his eyes shifting to focus on floor as i turned to grab the hot chocolates.
"She said her and Alfie were stable though" i said, wondering why Zoe would have lied.
"When would Zoe ever say her and Alfie were stable?" Joe asked, raising an eyebrow. He had a point; Zoe was always so bubbly snd enthusiastic about her and Alfie but today she kind if just shrugged it off. "You have a point" I said, handing Joe his hot chocolate, "i'll speak to her later, okay?"
"Thank you" Joe murmured as he brought his mug of hot chocolate to his lips.
°
"See you tomorrow!" Zoe called as Joe left the house. This was my chance to try and see what was happening with her and Alfie.
"So, Zoe, how's everything with Alfie?" I asked, raising my eyebrows jokingly.
"Yeah, we're good" Zoe replied, looking away.
"have you done anything special recently? Oh, isn't it your anniversary soon?" I felt like i was being too nosey. best friends or not, she shouldn't have to tell me everything.
"Not really, obviously we've had days out and stuff but we haven't been on a date recently. We haven't spoken about our anniversary but it's in a month and a half so we have time". She obviously knew something was  up but  i wanted to know if she was okay.
"Zoe, something's up. What's wrong between you and Alfie?" i ask sympathetically.

"What's wrong between me and Alfie? What do you mean? Nothing's wrong!" Zoe huffed, annoyance growing in her voice.

"Zoe, Joe said that your panic attacks are getting worse. He said he's worried about you. Something's up, Zoe, and you don't have to hide it" I say, my hand on her upper arm for comfort.

"No, there's nothing to hide. I'm fine, my panic attacks are no worse than before and there is certainly nothing wrong with Alfie and I." Zoe's eyes pricked with tears.

"Zoe... I... Are you sure you're alright?" I stuttered as tears streamed down her cheeks.

"I'm fine,  I think it's time for me to leave anyway." With that Zoe stood up, paced to the front door and opened it. She stopped abruptly and, without turning around, muttered a goodbye.

"Zoe, wait, please?" I called after her but she moved swiftly out of the door and down the road. I set off running after her, shouting for her to listen. "Please... Just stop... Zoe, listen... please" I panted, slowing down from being unfit; somehow Zoe was still jogging away.

Tears gathered in my eyes, threatening to spill. I hate having arguments with Zoe, even If they're little. It just hurts to feel like you've upset your closest friend, especially when they're the only one you can tell anything and everything too. That's why it hurt now. Of course it wasn't a massive argument but I made her cry.

Zoe was headed towards the main road, still moving rapidly. What could I do? I couldn't just let it be, that's for sure. I couldn't just run after her just to run back again.

Finally, she slowed her pace down, crossing the road.

"Zoe, I'm sorry" I called out pleadingly. She turned her head, stopping to stand still.
"I'm fine" She sniffled, attempting to look me straight in the eye.

"No, you're not.  I didn't mean to upset you. I'm sorry." I looked left and right, she was still standing in the road "Zoe, you've got to move" I warned.

"Why? I'm fine, I want to go home" She seemed confused, it obviously hadn't clicked.

"No, Zoe, you've got to get out of the way, you're going to get hurt!" I was starting to worry now, I could hear cars getting louder, closer. My body was beginning to tense, i inhaled a large amount of air. I called out to Zoe, telling her to move. She stumbled back, fear spreading across her face like a fever.

A car swung round the corner. Zoe screamed, I screamed. The car stopped.

Time slowed down then. It was like a scene out of some action film. But this wasn't an action film. This was reality.

"Zoe?" I managed to squeak. There wasn't an answer. "Zoe, please?" I was trembling, a wave of tears flooded down my face.

The guy who was in the car was now pacing back and forth on the other side of the road. He had his phone to his ear and was speaking so fast that I couldn't understand a word. He was on the phone t the hospital.

Zoe's limp body lay sprawled across the road. Cuts covered her face and arms whilst parts of her clothing were ripped and stained with blood.

Zoe had been hit by a car and It was all my fault.

A/n~
Ayyy, i finally finished part 2. I got stuck writing about the crash because i haven't witnessed one or seen the effects of one before so i'm hoping that part was okay!
