You loved to sit by the river when you had free time. It was your escape. The sound of trickling water bouncing off of rocks soothed you. You closed your eyes and thought of your happy place. A place where everyone was at peace and noone had to be afraid. Besides, you were an Aquarius. It was only fitting that you liked to be near water.
Even if you hated steriotypes, you couldn't deny that there were similarities between being an Aquarius and your personality. You were shy while growing up, but as you got older, you gained more confidence. You were quick to adapt to the people around you and always knew what to say, you just didn't always say it. You also always wanted to do something important with your life. When you opened your eyes, the happiness drifted away with the water.
Your life was a bit more difficult than others. Your parents were busy. Very busy. Both were Pisces. Very emotional Pisces. Dad was a famous man in the music industry. He owned Big Hit Entertainment, one of the biggest music companies in the world. Your mom was a designer. One who was specially asked for all around the world. She was always traveling and he was always at his office. They had no time for you and as an only child, you got lonely.
Standing in front of the river you smiled to yourself. You weren't alone. You had two people who you absolutely adored. One of them was your best friend, Yasmin. Virgo. She completed the other half of you. She was a perfectionist who would over think things and tried to understand all of your problems. She comforted you when your sunny days weren't sunny, which happened a lot. She was also the one who showed you the habit of judging things based off of zodiac signs. How could you not. She was a Virgo and you were an Aquarius. A match made in heaven basically. Your relationship with her was great, nothing to complain about.
On the other hand was your boyfriend, Mason. He was a Scorpio. According to zodiac signs (which Yasmin loved to remind you of) Scorpios and Aquarius' are the least compatible out of all the signs. Scorpios were extremely independent and controlling. They were also hardworking and strived for the best. It seems the heavens were editing your zodiac profiles to make you two the most incompatible couple on the planet.
But no matter what you read online or in books, you loved Mason. He comforted you when depression was at its' peek. He never acted like his steriotype. He was sweet and caring. He supported anything you did and wanted the best for you.
Once you were done day dreaming at the river, you began to walk back to your house. Kicking pebbles here and there, you kept your gaze fixated on the ground. As you made your way up to your doorstep, you bumped into someone. Without looking up you quickly said sorry, shocked by the person in the pathway. As you raised your gaze, you saw a tall built guy with brown hair and golden brown eyes.
"Mason!" You said in delight of seeing your boyfriend on a surprise visit.
"I came by since you're gonna be home alone for awhile."
Your parents were away for business. Typical."I'm happy you stopped by, I was just at the river."
"Stuck in your own world again?" He said in a low voice almost as if he was disappointed.
"No the river is just a nice place to be." He knew that you went there to think about your life and the pathetic excuse you gave didn't fool him.Once you both made your way into your house, he gave you a quick kiss on your cheek.
"I have some pretty exciting news
y/n!" He was smiling like he just recieved a box of puppies.
"O.M.G you're pregnant aren't you?" You said in a joking way.
"What? No."
Obviously he didn't catch on.
" Your dad is finally letting me come out as an artist! He's going to try and get me a gig in LA!"Mason was an up and coming singer who already had a large fan base. He was also under Big Hit Entertainment, so your dad was his boss.
"That's amazing! You're one step closer to your dream." That was about the only thing that resembled Mason being a Scorpio. He would never give up on his dream of becoming the new hot singer with millions of fans cheering him on from all over the world.
You hugged him tightly as he hugged you back. You felt the warmth of his embrace and heard his steady heartbeat against your ear. As you both pulled away, his phone went off. His happy go lucky expression turned grim as he read the name on his phone.
"Who's Suzy?" You asked curious of the name that you never heard of.
"Oh, it's just another artist from the company."
The first question that popped into your head was what sign she was. Yes. You were very obsessed with zodiac signs at that point.
"Seems like it's something important. Is it cool if I call her for a minute?" You didn't mind. You trusted him with all your heart. That's what relationships are about. Trust. As he walked out of the room, you sat there hearing muffled talking. When he came back his happy expression grew back onto his face where it belonged.
"Hey kitten, you in the mood for a movie?"
"Sure how about a horror?" You absolutely loved horror movies. Almost noone would watch them with you and you were hoping that just this once Mason would agree.
"Ehh I don't know kitten, you know I'm a hopeless romantic. The rom-coms are my favourite." He said that as he placed his hand on his heart and made a sad face.
You couldn't help but laugh at the way he looked.
"OK ok we can watch a rom-com."
As you two watched the movie, the rest of the world seemed to fade around you. You were happy to have Mason with you even if your parents weren't.He made you believe that zodiac signs didn't matter. But did they?
Y/N's point of view: Your bedroom, 12:32 AM
It was pretty late for a school night. Mason didn't want to go home and leave me alone here, so I let him spend the night. As I walked to my bed ready to fall asleep, Mason took the spot next to me.
"And where do you think you're going?" I said confused by the sudden gap between us that was quickly replaced by his arm wrapping around my stomach.
"I thought I could sleep next to you just for one night. There's no harm in that." He said tightening his grip on me. He hugged me close and began to close his eyes when I said"I'm not too sure about this Mason." I was worried. Not because I didn't trust him but because I couldn't. I've had a bad past with boyfriends. They tried to take advantage -but failed- of me whenever I wasn't in my happy place. I was weaker then. Mason knows that I'm not comfortable with such intimate things yet, even if sleeping next to each other isn't really considered intimate.
"Y/n" He said meeting my gaze with his. "We've been dating for one and a half years now. I haven't done anything that you didn't want to do because I care for you. I just thought that since you were at the river, you've had a lot on your mind. I want to make you feel better." I melted in his words. He always knew what to say to me. But I couldn't allow him.
"Mason, please, I'm really tired and I'm not in the best mood. Sleep is what I really need." I tried my best to make it sound as innocent as possible knowing that he would be disappointed.
"Ok..." He said as he proceeded to lye on the couch across the room. I felt a little bad. We never did anything. And by anything I mean...'anything'. I'm not sure when I'll be ready because it's difficult to let down my walls that I took pride in building. We both said goodnight to each other and turned off the lights.
I like where Mason and I are right now. Nothing has to change right?
