-Chapter 9-
It took about more or less than four hours before we reached Cassel’s Town. It looks far different from what I remembered. I lived here for a month after Dad died when I was seven years old. Truly, Cassel’s Town had already been civilized.
I saw an old woman standing in front of a white-painted wooden gate as we were now three meters away from Grand Ma’s house. The old woman’s face becomes familiar as the car gets closer and closer to where she stood.
The car stopped in front of her and Mom smiled at her as she lowered the glass window. That’s when I realized, that old woman is Grand Ma. She had changed a lot. Her black hair is now covered with white strands. Her face and skin is now mostly wrinkled.
Seriously?, A lot of things had change in Cassel’s Town after more or less eleven years. Even the people here had also change.
“Hello there, Jane!” , Grand Ma greeted Mom as Mom get off the car.
“Hi, Mother!” , Mom greeted back wrapping her hands around her and gave her a soft kiss on the cheek after pulling back.
Ma and I both get off the car and head towards Mom’s direction. My eyes were glued on the house examining every detail of it. The house looks old and dusty. I haven’t thought that it’ll be this boring after eleven years. As far as I remembered it, this house was full of colors, joys and the ambiance was seemingly relaxing but it’s the opposite now.
“Hey, Aunt Melly!” , I heard Ma greeted. She wrapped an arm on Grand Ma and leans forward kissing her on the cheek.
“Oh! Hi, Claire!” , Grand Ma greeted back and her eyes landed on me.
“So you must be – ” .
“Mori, Grand Ma!” , I cut her off faking a smile. I haven’t seen Grand Ma since then so I was a bit shy. We were so closed to each other back then. She taught me how to cook but I fail to learn. I used to sleep beside her when we stayed here. She resembles Dad’s look that’s why I really love being with her after Dad died. I remembered that I cried hysterically when we returned to the city, Mom had to go work and I had to go to school so there was nothing I can do but I really didn’t want to go with Mom at that time.
Hilarious, I know. But I was only seven that time.
“Mori.” , Grand Ma called out smiling cheerfully and threw her hands in the air gesturing me to go and embrace her. I did what she wanted and walk towards her and she embraced me tightly. I also did the same. I somehow missed being hug by her.
“You’re already a grown Lady, Mori. I’m so glad you went here for a vacation!” ,she said as we both pulled out of each embrace, “You look like your mother, Dear. But your much beautiful than her!” , she playfully continued which brought them all to laughter. My cheeks blushed of embarrassment. I guess that’s one thing that hasn’t change of Grand Ma, being a ‘JOKER!’
**********
My eyes were examining the interior of the house as we were now inside. The living room is still of ancient décor, from the leather couches to historical paintings that hang on the wall. The hundredth-aged vase of my height was still at the corner beside the TV stand. The color of the living room ranges from dark to the lightest brown. That gives more of an ancient touch to the room.
