Daehyun’s POV:
I sat on the bench thinking to myself. Ok more like crying as thoughts of Youngjae roamed throughout my head. I kept thinking about how close I was to helping him speak. He had almost talked to me! But… because of that, he was beaten by his father. Way to go and let someone special to you get hurt Daehyun.
I sighed, standing up as my train pulled up to the station. This is it. I can’t believe I’m going back home, the one place I couldn’t wait to get away from when I was actually there. Well, it was fun while it lasted. I walked towards the entrance when I heard a voice yelling my name. I was confused, because I didn’t recognize the voice at all. I turned and saw someone running towards me, but not just anyone.
Youngjae.
“Daehyun! Daehyun!!” Did… Did he just yell my name? “Daehyun!” I widened my eyes, not believing what I was hearing. Was this a hallucination or dream? Did I fall asleep on the bench? Or was I still in bed back at home? I stepped aside, letting others get on the train, as I walked over and set my stuff down on the bench.
“Youngjae…?” The figure got closer and I could tell that it was Youngjae. What is he doing? I was taken aback when Youngjae flung himself into my arms, clingy to me like I was about to disappear.
“Daehyun…” He breathed out, trying to calm down from all the running.
“Did… did you just say my name… or am I just imagining things?” I wrapped my arms around the now crying boy.
“Dae… hyun…” I chuckled a bit, pulling back and wiping his tears away.
“Is that all you’re going to say, now that you can talk?” He smiled and nodded.
“Daehyun…” He hugged me again, wrapping his arms around my neck. I hugged him back, holding him tightly.
“I can’t believe I finally get to hear your voice, Youngjae. It’s… It’s beautiful… I wish I could stay to hear more of it, but thank you for the amazing going away present.” I frowned as Youngjae tensed in my arms. “Youngjae?” I questioned, pulling away.
“Daehyun… D… Dae… hyun…” I tilted my head to the side. “D… Dae… P… Pah… Plea… Please… d… don’t… g… go…” I wasn’t sure if Youngjae was stuttering because he was crying or because he hadn’t talked in so long. Regardless, I was actually really happy that he didn’t want me to leave.
“Oh Youngjae.” I pulled him back into my arms and held onto him tightly. “You really don’t want me to go?” I questioned him, making sure it’s what he really wanted.
“P… Pah… Please… s… sss… st… stay… w… with… m… me…” My smile grew underneath my mask, but of course he couldn’t see that. I sighed and once again, pulled away from Youngjae. I noticed fear in his eyes, but I shook my head.
“Of course I’ll stay, but… first I have to do something. Something I should have done a while ago.” I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I slowly reached up to my ears, lightly pulling off the strings of my mask. I let go, letting my mask drop to the floor and keeping my eyes close. However, my eyes snapped open when I heard a soft gasp.
“Daehyun…”
