Youngjae’s POV:

I’m not sure how long it took me to pull myself together, but I was getting pretty annoyed at listening to my phone go off. Someone kept calling me. Probably just my appa wanting to yell at me some more. I sighed and slowly made my way to my room. I picked up my phone seeing thirty messages and twenty-three…

I’m a badman~ I will imprison you in darkness. AH! AH! AH! AH! … *click* Twenty-four missed calls, mostly from Himchan, but a couple were from Jongup.

Youngjae, are you ok? Why aren’t you answering?!

Daehyun said you had bruises!

Please answer! I want to talk to you!

I SWEAR IF YOU DON’T ANSWER YOUR PHONE I AM GOING TO COME KICK YOUR DOOR DOWN AND STRANGLE YOU!!!

That’s only a jist of the messages Himchan sent me. Jongup’s were mostly about missing me. I was a bit scared about listening to all the voicemails he left me, so instead I sent him a message.

Himchan, sorry about missing work. If you have to fire me, I understand. I probably won’t come in today, but I’ll try tomorrow. The bruises are only minor; don’t worry so much about me. I’m going to rest now, so I’ll talk to you later. Night.” I threw my phone on my bed and sat down.

I can’t believe he’s gone. I bit my lip to contain the tears, but it was a useless action since the tears came anyways.

Why does my dad have to ruin everything?! I screamed in my head. I stood up and punched a wall. I was too blind with anger that the pain didn’t register for a few minutes. I went over to my desk and threw all my stuff off, not caring that I’d have to pick it all up later.

I fell to my knees, crying my eyes out. After a few minutes, I wiped my eyes with my sleeve. A white piece of paper caught my attention. I leaned forward and picked it up, reading Daehyun’s perfectly written note.

It’s ok to be afraid. Is it really?

Everyone is afraid of something or another in their life. I’m afraid.

It only makes you normal and human. I am normal.

Maybe you aren’t ready to face your fears, but it’s been four years since you’ve talked Youngjae. It has been a long time. Am I ready?

I think it’s time to let your voice be heard. I want you to hear me.

I want to help you in any way I possibly can. Come back, Daehyun.

I’m… heading back to Busan in about two hours…” I glanced over at the alarm clock on my side table by my bed. 2:45. I had fifteen minutes until Daehyun’s train left.

I shot up from the floor and ran out of my apartment, down the stairs, and out of the building as fast as I could. I was about to whistle for a taxi, but then realized I didn’t bring my white board to communicate with the driver. By the time I got my white board and found a taxi, I wouldn’t have enough time to get there.

Instead, I turned left and ran all the way to my work. I busted into the store and into Himchan’s office. Before I could breathe a word, or find a piece of paper and pen to tell Himchan what I wanted, he spoke up.

You want a ride to catch Daehyun before he boards his train and leaves Seoul forever to marry a stupid bitch he doesn’t know and live a very miserable and controlled life?” He glanced up at me with a knowing smirk. I nodded, still trying to catch my breath. “Then let’s go.” He grabbed his keys and my hand, running out of the store and to his car. We drove in silence, making it in front of the building. “Go!” He yelled as I unbuckled quickly and got out of the car.

I ran inside, towards the information desk. I glanced at the train schedule to find the one that would take Daehyun to Busan. I found which one it was and where it was, so without hesitation, I ran to where it was. (Idk how a train station works, so im treating it like an airplane one) As I ran, I could see him in the distance. I wasn’t close enough for him to see me, and I was too far that by the time I made it to him, he’d already be on the train.

I picked up the pace, pushing myself as hard as I could. I wasn’t going to make it. I have to stop him. I need him… I… I… I cleared my throat and tried calling out to him.

D… D… D… Dae…” My throat was on fire, burning from the lack of usage over the past four years. I also could feel a little tingle of pain as if my dad was hitting me as I tried to speak. I tried my best to ignore the pain and again cleared my throat. “D… D… Dae… Dae… hyun…” My voice was only a whisper. I need to try harder! You can do this Youngjae!

You really want to see me? … Then tell me. … With your voice. …Daehyun’s voice kept playing through my mind. He wants to hear you, let him hear you. Speak your mind. You can do it… You can do it, Youngjae…

D… Dae… Dae… hyun…Just a little louder. I noticed that Daehyun started to walk towards the entrance of the train. No! Daehyun! Please don’t go! Daehyun… Dae… Daehyun… D… Dae…

Daehyun!!” …
